2028 Summer Olympics

So my daughter lives in LA and was selected in the lottery for local residents to buy tickets to various events, so we were looking at going to some events but man the prices are crazy.

T&F - $600 each
Tennis - $1000 each
Opening Ceremonies - $3000 - $5000 each
Beach VB - $28
Gymnastics - sold out
Swimming - $500

How do you approach recruiting at this point?

I wonder how the WBB staff approach recruiting this off season. Idk if anyone knows if Bill retiring after this year is a given, so do they look for senior heavy players or approach it as any other year? The obvious problem could be finding players to come knowing there could be a different coach the following season.

NIL changes the game for sure. Along that thought I wonder what Pollard meant when he said(paraphrasing )- coaches will have more than enough money for finding high quality players. I wish he would elaborate on where these funds are coming from. This could be the new president finding money.

Otz Appreciation Thread

SIAP

Hearing the players talk about the program and Otz makes me feel lucky we have this guy. Otz demands a lot from his players, but he respects them as a person first. Heise even said he and Otz had weekly lunches together.

Players seem to love Otz even with the 6:00 AM military style workouts. Opposing coaches all rave about Otz. Otz also conducts himself very professionally on the court. I can only think of a few instances where he truly lost his temper on the court.

With Otz leading the program, I have no doubt he will continue to lead the team to great success, both on and off the court. We are truly blessed to have him as our head coach. The season just ended, but I already can’t wait for November

Who you got?

How far do you have Iowa State going?
What about all other Big 12 teams?
Any big upsets?

While I think Wisconsin/Arkansas/Nebraska/Vandy/Texas Tech/Alabama all could get upset...I can't get myself to actually pick them to lose. I do think Nebraska and Tech are the most likely to get upset of those though. So my biggest upsets are only 11/6 with South Florida over Louisville and VCU over UNC.

Big 12:
  • TCU loses to Duke in OT in round of 32
  • Kansas loses to Duke in S16
  • UCF loses to UCONN in round of 32
  • Houston loses to Florida in Elita 8
  • BYU loses to Purdue in Sweet 16
  • Texas Tech loses to Arkansas in round of 32
  • Arizona wins natty (but I was so close to picking them to lose to Arkansas)
  • Iowa State loses to AZ in FF (brutal i know)
Final Four:
  • Duke
  • Florida
  • Arizona
  • Iowa State

RECRUITING: Iowa State’s 2027 basketball class: Where things stand now

With the 2025–26 season entering its final stretch, Iowa State’s staff is beginning to narrow its focus on the 2027 recruiting class. The Cyclones already hold one major commitment and are in the thick of several high‑level recruitments. With four signees already in the 2026 class and the transfer portal remaining a yearly factor, TJ Otzelberger will be selective about who joins the program alongside the early commit.

Friday OT - Dream On

Thanks so much to @Cyclones_R_GR8 for this thread topic:

“ How are your dreams, Scary, pleasant or just plain weird?
Do you have recurring themes to your dreams?”

I am going to let him share his, but it is really good.

I just have had recurring dreams over the years that I accidentally never quit the job I had in high school at a small supermarket in our tiny town, I suddenly needed to show up and work a shift after working my grown-up job. The dream just goes through that day.

How about you?

On That Note: It’s All Over Now

We’re all bummed. Basketball season is over for Iowa State. So, for this week’s segment, we focus on songs with the word “over,” in title or lyrics.

(Compound words that contain “over” are accepted, too, e.g. overtime.)

“On That Note” is presented each week on Cyclone Fanatic by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500
