Off-season 2026; Roster Needs/Portal

people really sleeping on evan at 141. with ech and vega up and mendez done. i think siedel and blaze stay down not sure about jax
With all that movement up, if Siedel and Blaze stay at 133, I’m right there with you. Bassett will be there at 141 and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jax moved up though. What about Davino (is Kade Brown a good enough option for OSU at 141), Van Dee (Hardy is done, right?)? Does Stanich stay at 141? A LOT going on down there.

20 Ribeyes for $40 Scam

A substantial portion of my meat intake is venison. Gun prices are up. Ammunition is up. Gas prices are up. Hunting clothing is up, not to mention license fees on top. Add the mandatory 4 wheel drive pickup and the processing fees at the locker or time required to process your own. Good beef is cheap :):)

Donovan Davis announced on May 6th that he committed to the Cyclones!!!

It wasn't to long ago that if you donated like 2 milliion to Iowa State they would name a building or garden or something after your family. Now 5 million buys a 3rd year point guard with upside. At some point a salary cap is gonna have to take place and when that happens the SEC and a few big ten teams will spring out in the lead because we all know they won't play by the rules, they never have.
$5 million would get you an elite pg

A salary cap isn’t possible without CBA and employment imo

20 Ribeyes for $40 Scam

KIOA was advertising all about this - they are spending money trying to get the word out, and I guess I do feel.... something... for those who buy these.
Yup, local radio will take any advertising dollars and they also post it all over social media. It 100% is a pyramid scheme/scam. Doesn't help either when you drive by and there is a line for it to bring walk up interest too. I really wonder if any of the local media here that were advertising it (I also heard one of the personalities on 92.5 KJJY talking about it last weekend) actually ever purchased these to realize they are promoting meat that is probably around dog food grade in quality.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised anymore just how many suckers there are in our society when people fall for all kinds of email phishing scams or those who call claiming they are from the IRS, Microsoft, car warranties, etc. that all kinds of people fall for and get swindled out of money and more all the time. People in general are too trusting and a slick salesperson/scammer can read people and take advantage.

Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I agree with this to a point.

But if you look at it like picking teams on a school yard. The best kickball player is picked first, eventually you get to the kid that cant kick.

Eventually, the lower schools become the best available options, if expanding is the goal.

In reality, a school like UU, may have been passed on multiple times, but in the next round they may be the best option left. Now if taking any school does not meet the needs, add a benefit, for what they are looking for, then that will end the expansion. No one is going to take teams for the sake of adding teams, their has to be some benefit, gaining media market, gaining media pay, gaining needed travel partners, gaining a rival for a wanted team etc.

In the next round we really dont know yet what might be considered valuable. We have an idea, but as discussed media markets are becoming less valuable and other aspects are becoming more valuable, like overall fanbases etc. This means a school passed on in previous rounds may have more value now, or they may just be the most valuable of those left.
Exactly. Which is why I don't think any current Big 12 schools will have an invite, unless something dramatically changes their current valuations.

They've vetted all of these schools and concluded that they didn't add anything. If they knew these schools added something, they would have been added whenever they were available in order to maximize the revenue produced.

They aren't sitting there going "yeah, Utah will grow our bottom line but let's just wait until 2030 to add them with the ACC schools". No business, especially one as blood thirsty for every extra cent as the Big 10, operates that way.

Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

The thing is this argument is base around the need for constant expansion which I don’t think exists anymore. If carriage fees are no longer a major factor then there is zero need for future expansion unless a school is willing to join the P2 for a faction of the price.

Speaking for the big ten OSU got a 91 mil payout due to winning the previous football natty, the lowest payouts for full tier members were 79mil and up. Those numbers will continue to increase till the end of the media deal. At that point any school added needs to bring in over 100 mil of added value or else it’s just another school in the pot. Outside of ND no school has that value that isn’t in the P2.

That’s why I can see expansion being put in pause for many years
I think the next step is consolidation, not expansion. I think TV media rights is a bubble personally, but at the very least they’ve hit a point of diminishing returns.

High School Baseball/Softball Concession Stands

For the last half of HS football season, if you aren't selling chili, you aren't getting my money.

As for the burger/hot dog/brat vs walking taco debate, we do both and it isn't really a problem.
1. Volunteer labor, so you just have someone running the walking taco show. It's not much of a learning curve and after making a few, you can turn them really quick. Leftover meat is a problem because at some point, you get a break between home games of over 3-4 days, so it won't be good if you save it. Re-freezing also shouldn't be done. prepare conservatively, and when they're gone, they're gone.
2. My problem with hot dogs is the quality is usually crap. Either it's a skinny Nathan's that they're trying to sell for $5 or it is a good size hot dog with a cross section resembling chicken bologna. You can buy Costco or Sam's hot dogs for pretty cheap. I will gladly pay $5 for one of those all beef big dogs.

I agree that pork is a better option on the grill side. Not necessarily pork burgers, but the tenderized pork loin slices at Hy Vee and Fareway are great. They grill super fast and you can usually get them for a buck or so a piece. Sometimes they will go even cheaper in bulk for a HS concession stand, too. Another easy and fantastic option is pork loin. You can buy a whole loin for a little over $2 a pound (under 2 on sale) and it will make at least 35-40 sandwiches, so you it is super high margin. It's not hard to find a dad willing to fire up their smoker, especially if you have a couple of home nights back to back.

NBA: *** 2025-26 NBA Thread ***

Just stopping in to remind again that the way OKC gets officiated is an absolute joke. Small market team with one of the best players in the league should be loved by fans but that style of play, and NBA refusal to improve the officiating, makes them so hateable. Borderline unwatchable when they can do whatever they want on defense and flop all across the court on the other end. We could have had an actual ball game and some entertainment last night if not for that horrific officiating crew

I didn't watch last night because I can't stand watching OKC but the clips I've seen today are horrendous. Bad enough the entire Lakers team was doing a post game "conference" with the refs on the court after the game. Every time I see OKC I flash back to this soccer/Saving Private Ryan mashup vid.
