ISU RELEASE: 2026 Cy-Hawk game will kick at 6:30 and be broadcast on NBC

last time I went to an ISU Howk night game it went pretty well late.

Seneca Wallace led Iowa State University to a legendary 36-31 comeback victory over Iowa on September 14, 2002. Trailing 24-7 at halftime, the Cyclones rattled off 29 unanswered points in Kinnick Stadium, dealing the eventual Orange Bowl-bound Hawkeyes their only regular-season loss.

When I said how bout them hawkeyes at the post game party 65 year old friend of mines dad took a swing missed fell down hit his head on the counter knocked himself out.

Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

To be fair, I think it’s a pretty difficult to answer the question of whether the value comes from the university affiliation or the individual.

Is the revenue coming to the school because of the individual, or because of the collective branding/longevity of the institutions (schools, conferences, tv contracts, etc.)?

If every single current CFB player disappeared today, and every single team got a brand new roster tomorrow, I’d bet the TV ratings and ticket sales would still be pretty similar.
You don't have sports without players playing them. Regardless of the chicken/egg argument (which I totally get where you're at with), the players on the field are responsible for the revenue coming in and should be sharing in it a lot more than they are. Frankly a $20M cap is insultingly low considering most everybody at the P2/M2 level is pulling at least $100M in revenue every year and many several multiples of that.

I think your point applies much better to true NIL. There are maybe a dozen college athletes that are marketable enough to make what they're making if we just allowed the free market to do it's thing and not disguise pay for play as NIL.

What's streaming that's good TV/movies

Looking to start a new series and just seeing if anyone has opinions before hand. Just finished The Americans and the latest season of The Night Agent. No HBO or Paramount but have pretty much everything else.

The three that I’m floating around are Justified, Widows Bay and The Handmaids Tale.
did you watch Margo on Apple?

Widow's Bay and Margo's Got Money Troubles and The Pitt are the best shows that are on/have dropped recently by far IMO.

They aren't when you consider the revenue they're bringing in.

Milan Momcilovic withdraws from the 2026 NBA Draft

Welcome to the real world and life. I do not expect anymore from Milan and these other players than I would anyone else. The player that would stick around and take millions less than going somewhere else is rare. Money talks, and the more money there is, the louder it talks to people.
How many people on here would stay in the current job because of loyalty to the company, if they were offered double the pay they currently make at another job?

Milan was an outside shot at making a roster in the league, the people that were telling him that, its their job to understand which players have the ability to play and those that will struggle and not make it. They are not perfect, but most do a very good job of identifying those players. Milan will be fine, the only one hurt here are the ISU fans expecting him to be loyal to the university, instead of looking out for himself. Milan will be fine either way.

ISU RELEASE: 2026 Cy-Hawk game will kick at 6:30 and be broadcast on NBC

Agree with your first sentence, disagree with the 2nd (at least when replying to someone assuming we'll be 'curbstomped' by anyone). Especially Iowa, who lost nearly as much as we did & has had a terrible offense for the past decade. If THAT is realistic, I'd rather not even follow the team than just accept we stand no chance. I'd rather have a little optimism that we can compete rather than expect blowouts every week.
I was mostly ignoring the curb stomp portion of that post with my thought, though I think it is a stretch to say that Iowa lost nearly as much. They still have the same coaching staff and a lot of players who have been in their system, and we can't say that.

I expect us to be competitive in most games, but I also expect that there will be games where the fact that everyone is learning the system and trying to gel gets exposed a bit.

*** 2026 Tennis Thread ***

I know, I know, easy for me to say. But debilitating cramps in 90 degrees blows my mind when we're talking about some of the fittest athletes in the world, even compared to other professional sports. Australia I can understand, the heat indexes can be crazy. Maybe it's wear and tear from other tournaments, but players in the top ~20 are very strategic about setting their schedules each season. And if it's not that, this was the second round. It would've been more understandable even in the next round, if he'd played two long matches before

I care more about the dump I took this afternoon than the B1G's revenue advantage, Iowa is likely never going to ascend to the top of the conference in football. Even with the money we'll be a mid/upper-mid tier program that might compete for a CFP berth every so often, and then not advance far. The money advantage means little to me as an Iowa fan. I just think it's funny that you believe this 7x10 nonsense is actually ever going to happen. Literally nothing that you've predicted on here has actually happened. And yet you call everyone else naive. It's really funny.
This is a very logical sqwak take. You got more money than ISU but you will get the same amount of Nattys. Hawk fans who pound their chest about this just brings me joy.

Why is life worth living?

My god things have become expensive. I just looked at my receipt from 2017, and a complete roof replacement with GAF Timberline HD shingles cost my $8750.

In 2021, we replaced our Furnace/Air for $11k
