The Odyssey trailer 2 (full trailer)

I see that a certain group of people are up in arms because Helen of Troy is being played by a black woman and that Nolan had the audacity to cast a trans actor. It's just laughably stupid that this group of people gets worked up about something so trivial, especially when neither is even close to a main character in the story. There will no doubt be review bombing by internet trolls but I hope that doesn't deter people from seeing the movie.

I would normally agree. However, these are the same group of actors that get mad when someone plays a cuban person who isn't Cuban. John Leguizamo made a huge deal out of it. So in one sense I don't give a rip who plays who, on the other guys like him need to shut their yapper if they can be in movies where a certain race plays someone who isn't that race. He threw a fit about James Franco plaing Fidel Castro. At the same time the whole thing is really stupid. If Franco is a good actor and can play Castro, Go for it.

That's the exact type of system I'm looking at upgrading too. Which brand did you go with? I'm looking at Wayne and Zoeller.
Went with this one:

Was looking at the Wayne one also. I got an additional 1 year warranty on the battery. My sump pit seems small. I may have to dig down a couple inches to get it to fit height wise.

he chooses some offbeat roles too and does well. I think Mickey 17 is actually pretty good and he's great.

I'm sure he made a ton of money on Twilight so now he can do whatever he wants.

Must be nice to be wanted by the biggest names for the biggest summer hits.

But also can do whatever indie or up-and-comer projects he wants if he likes a script or director.

I just thought after Twilight he would vaporize. He's awful in those films.

But those films are just awful.

Turns out it was them not him.

Give him something of merit to work with and he's quickly one of the best in the world.

Impressive how he went from "stoner dude in those dumb vampire/werewolf movies your girlfriend made you go to with her when you were college" to one of the best character actors in the business.

The best directors in the world... Nolan, Villeneuve, Eggers, etc. ...all seem to want to work with him.

F1 2026 Discussion

I think Newey needs to spend his time putting in work at AM and not side projects.

Red Bull is gonna have their own issues if Max ends up leaving, especially after firing almost all of their upper management. I can see them taking a complete nose dive over the next few years.

If I am AM. I make the Horner phone call. Might not like him but he is great at what he does.

Also. Ol' Rob Pattinson is having himself a ******* year as a villain with both this and The Odyssey. Mammoth tent pole movies.

You could argue that he is kinda in a league of his own. He only has 12 (soon 13) films in his arsenal. Spielberg has like 35 and there are some pretty average or downright bad movies of his. Same for Scorcese. He has like 20+ but feel he has less average movies than Spielberg which makes sense...Spielberg often is a huge blockbuster director...Marty isn't. I won't comment on Kubrik. He's a visionary for sure but the only movies I think are good are Dr. Strangelove, Clockwork Orange, and Eyes Wide Shut (ducks and covers).

Nolan really doesn't have a clunker or HORRIBLE movie in all 12 of his. I don't like some of them but they aren't garbage.

He's definitely been more consistent than Spielberg but hasn't been going at it until he's 80. Most of Spielberg's "meh" films are later in his career. Even after the 90s he's had some great films...

Minority Report
Catch Me If You Can
Munich
Lincoln
Bridge of Spies

I would not call it "great," but I liked Ready Player One. I still wanna see The Fabelmans and Disclosure Day. Nolan still has a long way to go to match the depth of the Spielberg canon.

I consider Eyes Wide Shut a complete bomb. Way to end on a low note. Then again, who knows what Kubrick would have done to the film in postproduction, so I don't really consider it a finished product.

But his top-seven (using my own judgement here) is damn impressive...

The Killing
Spartacus
Dr. Strangelove
2001: A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orang
The Shining
Full Metal Jacket
