Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

But an oil billionaire who owns the school that the big 12 runs through told me it would make everyone so much money!?! Is the billionaire wrong? How can that be!
Figures the resident B10 homer would misinterpret the remarks on two counts:

1. The misaligned timing of existing deals triggered the optional clause for pooling. That isn’t an indictment of the significant incremental value that full FBS or B12/ACC pooling would provide.
2. And of course if you pooled the top 24 brands to a Super League that would be prohibited by Cruz-Cantwell, the per school value would obviously be maxed out while leaving the rest of FBS SOL. Even CyCrazy can figure that out. Again, that shouldn’t be interpreted as pooling wouldn’t provide significant incremental value as multiple studies have displayed as well as existing NFL/NBA contracts with their multiple buyers with access to both regular season and playoff inventory.

Usually three days in a row, rest day and then the full body. I’ve had to miss the full body a few times due to not being available to get to gym.

When I did the three day a week it was M-W-F.

Regarding sleep, it’s usually bed by 10, awake by 5:15 so yes, I need more. I’ve also struggled a bit sleeping lately because it’s been warmer at night lately. It makes me think that the sleep score is full of sh*t.

I might just need to back off my volume too as I’m getting a little older.
Yeah always easier to say more sleep then to actually get it, I totally understand that one, gotta get that room comfy for ya.

Workouts seem pretty good form that info, I don’t remember what your job is but if it’s a more stationary one also make sure you’re moving around on those off days.

Good on you for recognizing what’s going on though and looking at making changes!

Then explain a school like Miami, that is not in the P2 and played for the championship this past year. The only advantages the P2 schools have is the extra money from their media deals and that multiple schools from the same conference can get into the playoff. A school like BYU makes the playoff it they were in the B10 or SEC last season, but not from the B12, and their schedule last year was just as difficult if not more so then Indiana's was two years ago when they made it the first time. Penn State schedule this year is a joke, if they do not make the playoff, it would be a major disappointment.

Today it all comes down to coaching and NIL funding for the majority of the programs, if you are not a blue blood.
So using those points it sounds like playoff access is a solid part of the P2 advantage. I might not agree with it but it’s a pretty big one, same for general perception

Miami is no different than most schools with wealthy alums, if the school starts winning they can rocket them forward like Indy. That’s a huge advantage most of the P2 have is media dollars pay for the AD and rev share and the alum money can go towards NIL. Aren’t to many P2 schools without deep alumni pockets. If they hit on a great coach and start winning there is no reason a Purdue or a Wisconsin or even a Rutgers can’t jump up to that level the way Indy did.

Hard as it is you might want to increase that sleep amount to get close to 8 hours. In no way am I doubting you but often times when people say 6.5 they are counting the time they get into bed vs the time they wake up which isn’t always the same as actual sleep.

If your lifts are going down to any meaningful degree it’s your recovery that is a likely culprit. Could also make sure your form hasn’t shifted or even mix up the lifts you are doing.

Is your 4 day routine 4 days in a row or more seperated?

Yep and just like with Indiana being in the P2 with those resources allows you to sky rocket if you get the right coach in place. Even more so if the schedule gods favor ya

Right now I’m running a four day a week routine of push-legs-pull-full body. Previously, I was doing a three-full body workouts.

As far as sleep, I’m getting about 6.5 hours a night. My sleep scores are usually around 90 but I feel like it should be lower.

UCLA had back to back 10 win season in 2013 and 2014, won eight games in 2021, nine games in 2022 and 8 again in 2023, not the bottom dwelling like you are saying. No way Indiana turns it around without their current coach and NIL, if both were in place a decade ago, they would have won then. Most of the money from the media deals are going to stadium upgrades and ever rising salaries of coaches. Not in the ability to pay players, that money is coming from outsides sources.
Being a member of the B10 is not pushing Indiana football, it's their coach and NIL, otherwise school like Purdue, Maryland, NW and others would also be doing it. Hell it was not that long ago that NW was playing for conference championships, before NIL and mass transfers. It all comes down to coaching and having enough money to buy players. No one believes the guy at TT is some great coach, but when you have money to bring in players, average coaching with great players takes you a long way.

What is your strength training routine currently look like?

Also the 1 million dollar question…how much sleep are you getting?
Right now I’m running a four day a week routine of push-legs-pull-full body. Previously, I was doing a three-full body workouts. My work has a fitness center in the basement of the building that I work at with a full time staff. They put together workout plans based on what I want and prefer. I have about four weeks left in this program and I might try to see about going back to a previous routine. I did PR on trap bar deadlift today at least.

As far as sleep, I’m getting about 6.5 hours a night. My sleep scores are usually around 90 but I feel like it should be lower.

Couple things:

First UCLA hasn’t been important in anything for decades, they aren’t a lynch pin in anything except how far a basketball blue blood can fall and since the big ten had Indiana we have a matching set now. Also this board constantly talks about how Nebraska was on a major decline when the left and that it was part of the decision so which one is it? I have no idea about Missouri as I don’t know anyone who thinks about them.

You realize a big reason why NIL got pushed through is because the conferences were making so much money. If your trying to go back to before then a lot of that might not happen

Your Indiana point proves mine, before all this started and we got t the current iteration Indiana couldn’t have happened, thus they are better off. Unfortunately most of the P2 are while the other half of the P4 aren’t except for some outliers that have risen up in the new environment

Resurrecting this thread a bit

I've stalled out on my fat loss. I'm eating anywhere from 1800 to 2100 calories, but I don't want to go too low. I'm 5'6 and about 162 pounds. According to one of those body fat scanners at the gym, I'm about 16% body fat, but I think I'm around 20% if I did a DEXA scan.

I'm also strength training, but my lifts have stalled out. My bench was higher in November/December than it is right now and I haven't improved much on my lifts the past few weeks.

Any tips on breaking through a plateau?
