The weird part is that it's only 1 year old.
So either he:
-suddenly didn't want to coach
-didn't think they'd give the job to his son unless he did this
-has a medical reason
-has a political reason

He may have been forced out. He said some pretty crazy **** about a month ago.

What will it take for players to want to play at Auburn under his son? He needs to make a final four this year or he's in trouble for the future.

Or....he's just a shady character and says things just to make him look good?

I just think it's a wild thing to do as a parent. Just absolutely setting your kid up for failure. Work your connections, get him a job on a good staff, get him experience with another coach and let him earn a job.

Too long. Didn't watch.
Yeah I watched about the first minute of that pretentious ******** and turned it off. That is a program that takes itself way to seriously. Do we really need a scripted, over produced quarter hour farewell video? Well at least we now know Pearl is an actor on the level of William Shatner...

Lot of failures: Pat Knight, Sean Sutton, John Thompson III. Tony Bennett took over for his Dad at Washington State and did well
This one was a little different. Not saying there was no nepotism involved, but there was another coach at Georgetown for like five years before they hired the son, I don't think JT3 was ever on his dad's coaching staff, and he had head coaching experience with some modest success (went to the tourney twice in four years with Princeton) before Georgetown hired him.

He also had some really good regular seasons at Georgetown, went 278-151. Not a lot of tourney success outside of one Final Four run but I definitely wouldn't put him in a tier with the likes of Pat Knight and Sean Sutton.
