Would you take Fred back someday?

In a heartbeat. Anyone that thinks otherwise is being completly selfish and jaded about this situation. I don't think he is coming back though mainly because he won't be a lifer in the coaching industry.

Nope. Don't care to see him in Ames again. Granted I'm assuming that the reports are true, but he's effectively been a mercenary on this job search - reports he's interviewed for Orlando and New Orleans in addition to Chicago. Probably safe to say feelers were put out to Minnesota and who knows where else.

Fred wanted to get to the NBA. ISU became little more than a safety net this past season. Chances are if he fails in Chicago, he'll be part enough of the good ole' boy club and get another gig in the league somewhere - he's not coming back to Ames.

But even if the opportunity is there for him to do so, what is to make me think he wouldn't turn around the next season and leap again. It's clear that the NBA is where he wants to be, not college.

I don't wish Fred ill. I don't wish him anything actually. He's not our coach any longer - I genuinely don't care.

In administration? Absolutely.

As a coach? Nope. If he thought recruiting was tough because teams used "he'll jump to the NBA before you graduate" before it'll really be tough now.

I think the Bulls will be the last coaching position he holds and he'll be fired in about 4 years for not winning a title for the newest 'hotshot' the Bulls will want. From there I wouldn't be shocked if he goes back into a front office job for someone.

I hope Fred decides to learn French, but doesn't want to shell out the big bucks for Rosetta Stone, so he purchases "Mango Languages" instead - which doesn't teach him how to conjugate verbs properly.

I hope Fred hasn't properly configured his spam folder in his email account, so that the appointment reminder emails from his dentist keep getting lost in the shuffle, causing him to have to reschedule his check-ups several times.

Everyone would take him back tomorrow if we could get him... no doubt in my mind.

Nope - or at least not with a few million conditions.... namely a sizable buyout and a healthy commitment.

Don't care to go through another summer like this again anytime soon.

Of course you take Fred Hoiberg back. He's just following an individual goal he was up front and clear about from the very beginning. He's an exceptional coach and ISU legend... you take him back in a heartbeat unless unforeseeable coaching blunders or off-the-court issues pop up in the near future. But, I doubt that.

I hope he tries putting a modest $20 in his gas tank but goes over by a cent. On his way to $25 he gets distracted by some passing firetrucks and goes over again. He hits $30 on the button but has to really focus and gently squeeze several times to get there without going over a third time.

Yes. If the situation arose that we needed him why not? Also I thought it took alot of courage for Fred to actually leave Ames. Good luck to the real mayor of ames iowa.
