Winning Big 12/NCAA championships will never be the expectations at Iowa State. You’re going to last a long time in Ames as the head coach if you just make the tournament.
That a coach can last a long time if they make the NCAA tournament consistently?
Not really. It might be the hope or the goal but it should never be the expectation.
Personally I'd be fine with it. That's what fans should want...the tournament's too much of a crap shoot to just think a team can go far because they're good.
That's the beauty of it.
Ya I kind of get that and am thankful when we do make the tourney. I just think we should keep pushing to break out of mediocrity.
Oh let's see. Spitballing here...
- He's taken us to a Sweet Sixteen
- He's won a Big 12 Tourney title
- He's won four league road games this year with two to play
- This hasn't been done in close to 20 years by the way
- He's finished with 12 league wins which ties the most Hoiberg had
- His record on the road against ranked teams is impressive as hell
You might as well expect to marry a supermodel while you’re at it.
You can hope for more, but expecting Big 12 and NCAA tournament titles is just going to leave you disappointed every year.
My expectations every year are to make the tournament and my hope is to win some tournament games.
Making the NCAA tournament isn't mediocrity.
But sometimes you don't know what a team can do until they've actually done it, if that makes sense.
I don't see this team going on a run in March, but if they do, today won't matter.

No, what’s dumb is we played a half of basketball today, and let one get away. And apparently people seem to think Iowa state has been a whole lot better historically than we have been.
I guess the good thing is that all of the “fans” have openly outed themselves, finally.
Now, we need to fire a coach because he is only making the ncaa Tournament.
That is far dumber than eatemup mocking them.

Went to the women’s game today. Decent crowd but damn does Baylor have some athletes.
