Will Prohm ever win a championship?

Fred HAD to take more when he arrived because there was NOBODY HERE. Freddy left Prohm with an impressive roster so he didn't have to start off raiding the transfers. Go listen to CF's podcast of TransferU. It explains it in simple enough terms that you might be able to understand it, and it's a really good podcast.
That’s a little extreme. A trio of Scotty, JVB, and DG isn’t exactly NOBODY, plus Ejim and Godfrey were good freshmen. Despite the transfer rush, two starters on Year 2’s tournament team were inherited. Add in Godfrey and a healthy Bubu and that’s half of the top 8.

In terms of inheriting little, Fred gave Prohm no time to add to Georges senior season. In hindsight Prohm probably should have found a late redshirt transfer or try flipping recruits. Year 3 was on both.

We start 3 transfers, and have 4 in our top 8. Prohm has taken 9 transfers in 4 years. The Fred transfer narrative has been romanticized on CF.

You still got confidence in Prohm? Why?

I think Prohm done a very good job with the team he has to work with. All teams that rely mainly on offense are bound to have an off night or two... I do wish we had more defensive consistency. It's a long season in one of the top conferences in the country.

We're starting 2 true freshmen and another who seems to be more interested in raising his draft stock than playing as part of a team. Through all that, we're still predicted as a #5 seed with a good opportunity to raise our stock.

What we lack most is a powerful post player. Lard and Jacobson are good, but can't handle the bigger, more physical inside types.

KU has the #8 rated recruit in the country who couldn't crack the starting lineup until they were hit with multiple injuries. I suppose that guy can't coach either...

I've seen Lard catch a little blame for this. He often has very little choice. Someone gets beat off the dribble and he's the only thing left between them and the rim so he has to challenge and then his guy can rebound. The perimeter defense hasn't been good and it really seems like guys are just slow out there.

I would definitely not say ISU's guards are exactly lightning quick on either end of the court and it shows.

Hey, hey, TX, no need to insult my intelligence. I think we're two big Cyclone fans sharing our opinions...I see a few others have responded to your comments but I'll give a synopsis of my perspective:
- Fred taking transfers jump started the program from the dearth that was left by McDermott
- Fred was exactly the right thing for the program - kudos to him and to JP for hiring him
- Would have been great if Fred stayed for years
- But, Fred chose to leave - hey, it was great what he did for the program and I wish him well wherever he goes (hope he takes over the Wolves as GM)
- Fred got some great HS recruits (MattT, Georges, Monte, Naz) but had a very short-term mentality at the end, as he was solely elephant hunting when it came to HS recruits (Vaughn, Diallo) and was not successful
- He got great transfers and generally managed them very well; but, that team that lost to UAB seemed to be coming apart at the seams, with huge comebacks in a # of games late in the year - so much talent - but that major crapper against UAB
- He left Prohm an excellent team for that next year or two; but, there was nothing lined up for after that when Fred left in late May - I don't hold it against Fred, but that's the way it was; Prohm had to overcome that
- Transfer recruiting has become much different since Fred started - just look at the # of high-major programs taking transfers in comparison to when Fred started it (is it all but Iowa?!); doubt Fred would have been able to get so many talented transfers, but he would have still gotten some; if he'd wanted to, he could have gotten back to being successful on the HS scene too, I'm sure
- So, I'm a huge fan of what Fred did to revive ISU; at the end, he appeared to be ready to move on, so it's good he left; Prohm had a great, short-term cupboard but had to start over after that - he seems to have done it pretty well, with the unfortunate bad year last year
- I'm a big fan of Fred and Prohm and would think most Cyclone fans would be
