Wigginton news (until he is back) thread

Why is everyone so scared of Iowa? They beat a very overrated Oregon team and that's it.
You try to tell me this isn't a scary, and nasty looking dude.

Last year the big 10 started playing a couple Big 10 games per team in late Nov to early Dec. I like it really and hope the Big 12 does it. Gets rid of the conference games that occur during students break.

I think it was the same thing last year. They have to wrap up their season a week earlier so that they can have MSG for their conference tourney (since the Big East has it reserved for their tournament during championship week).

Interesting. Thanks guys. I don't remember it from last year. It would be nice if ISU did, then hopefully they wouldn't be playing Kansas during winter break!

Why the heck is Iowa playing two conference games already? I saw that on ESPN earlier and thought it was really strange.

Also, in addition to having to play their tournament early, the Big Ten went to playing 20 conference games instead of 18, so they play big 10 games in november/december so that students are available.

No, it doesn't. It's because of their decision to play third fiddle in MSG for the conference tournament. They have four games during winter break this year, two at home.

Well we should set it up that way where we don’t have the conference break games. I think the Big 10 may also have 20 conference games but I could be wrong. I know that was in the works.

Big 10 tourney is back in the United Center same weekend as the Big 12 tourney this year.

I think the key will be in how we attack your defense. If we move the ball to the right spots and take the right shots, I think we'll win. If we let it frustrate us into forcing shots, we probably won't.

This. It will all be whether ISU can run an effective zone offense and not settle for bad shots.

Then it seems like a combo of the two. They had 18 conference games last year but played the tournament earlier. Now they have 20 games. Didn't solve the games over break issue, but I agree that I'd be 100% in favor of the Big 12 moving two games up in December to avoid stale atmospheres in conference play.

They've looked OK so far. I do think the Top 25 ranking is a bit of a knee jerk reaction.

But it's a rivalry game and you never know how those will break. I'd like to have LW for that game, but not at the risk of re-injury. Seeing how the freshmen played in Maui makes me pretty confident that they can go get a road win in IC without him.

Great thing is we can do it and not move to 20 conference games. Don’t even know how you would make 20 league schedule work for the Big 12 so I don’t see that being in our future ever.

Our academic calendar is different than Iowa's most years, too. So, we only have two conference games to move up, rather than four.

I dislike everything about Iowa as much as the next ISu fan...but if ISU were undefeated and had a win vs a top 15 team we would be clamoring for our team to be in the top 25 too...just sayin.

At least thus far Iowa appears to have its best team in years...We will learn a lot about Iowa the next 2 weeks that’s for sure.

I’d be more concerned about this if the Iowa state students bothered to show up to games.

I think they showed up well to the one real home game we've had. Not everyone can get themselves to take a night off of school stuff to watch us pound Alabama State. They'll show up for the real games.

Sorry to post this in a the "Wigginton Out Indefinitely" thread, but did anyone notice whether he was still in a boot at last nights game? Is the boot for only when he's walking, or is it on all of the time? If all of the time, he would still need to do rehab once it is removed thereby prolonging his return.

He’s still in a boot.
