Why is Lucca Staiger an almost complete bust?

After all, he is 6' 5'' and weighs over 200 pounds. I think and feel that he could be very persuasive if given the opportunity to verbally defend himself. If you aren't willing to do so, then perhaps you should reconsider what you say,... about whom,...... and how you say it.

Would you be willing to look Lucca in the eye, in person, and ask him why he has been "almost a complete bust?" If not, I for one, don't think you have any business asking a question like that, anonymously, on this board.

He is one of our own, and doing the best job that he can. I suppose you would have been the first to criticize him, had he decided to go back to Germany, and not play for us at all. But hey, then you wouldn't have had the opportunity to ask him why he has been almost a complete bust, would you?

S. Harley 5'11" 10 points
A. Dagunduro 6'5' 13 points
C. Miller 5'7" 11 points

So, their tallest player is the same height as Staiger (and 30 pounds lighter, BTW). By your argument, Nebraska has NO post players, and yet they scored most of their points inside (one 3-pointer from these three players) AND almost beat us.

If you really want to play the height card, tell Stephen Curry he's not allowed to score more points than Frank Ben-Eze because Curry is 6'3" and Ben-Eze is 6'9".
 
People say Kurt Warner is washed up and is nothing but a backup for hotshot young QBs. Funny how things work.

Wasn't it a 3 from Staiger that sparked that late-game spurt? I'm pretty sure it was, I was there.
 
I can't imagine how bad we would be without Lucca. Right now, he's one of 3 players on our team that are playing at an average to above-average Big 12 calibur.
 
I didn't even bother to read more than the first couple posts in this thread. Lucca is anything but a bust. I didn't expect 20ppg a game from him and his .427 3pt% is pretty respectable, especially since he's recently been a lot more accurate from there with his knee and conditioning getting closer to 100%.

Van Coleman said before the season on Cotlar he expected Lucca to be a 8-12ppg scorer who will win some games for us with some big shots. So far that's not been too far off for a prediction.

That's not true. GMac said to Eric Heft on the post-game after Houston Baptist that either Lucca goes after more defensive rebounds, or Boozer would be taking some of his minutes.

Van Coleman was right about an ISU player, now that is the real story.

In yesterday's game at Missouri he was 2-for-6 for 3-pointers and had NO points inside the 3-point line. He really, really, really needs to develop an "inside" game. It isn't like he's really short. Nebraska, for example, has only 4 players taller than him, and they are doing better than us so far this year.

I am a more than a little disappointed in posters like this. I hope it does not reflect on all of us posters on CF.
 
What do you get when someone with zero basketball IQ starts a thread? Well, this is exhibit A.

Lebron James is 6"8"; based on the logic presented here, he should be posting up his defender every time down the court assuming that player is not 6'7" or taller, which is most of the time.

We should just recruit five 7' white guys and start them all. Then we would never lose!

Thats not consistent with what GMac has said more recently. Not sure if those things are archived, but GMac has said in NO uncertain terms that a few extra defensive rebounds they may get from Lucca do not outweigh the longer-term health of his knee.
