Prohm doesn't like large rotations. And even in the short rotation he decides on, he lets the same 5 guys on the court play extended stretches of minutes.
I don't necessarily like that. I feel he could do a better job of mixing in and alternating guys (like Conditt, Talley, and Lewis). Would help with keeping guys fresh in a given game and across the entire season. Limit foul trouble and injuries. The group of 10 we have would be capable of playing a fast-paced game for a full 40-min, something many of our opponents can't do.
Prohm is going to play who he trusts the most, regardless of my argument above. I can't fault him for that. Fred was the same as far as wanting a short rotation and getting his best players the bulk of minutes. But I do think Fred was better with situational substitutions. Whether it was getting a guy a breather an extra 30sec before a media TO, or playing the offense/defense strategy late in games.
Each coach is a bit different. We've seen what Fran does out east. Plays everyone on his bench almost every game. I think it was beneficial for him to have a couple guys sitting out this year to help fix that issue. But they still have other problems.
