What if I-State blows out Kent State?

I wonder what a blowout would tell us, and what impact it might have on the rest of the season?
Would it get us overconfident?
Would it show us we can win?
Or would it not mean much against a weaker opponent?
I hope it would show that we will play to our potential, no matter how good or bad the opponent is.

It'd be nice, but I don't think it would matter in the long run. At the end of the day, Kent State is still a .500 MAC team.

Until we play Iowa, I don't think we'll have an accurate idea of where this team is at.

This is what I wish for.
Am I the only one having a tough time with the I-State?

I would say not until the Toledo game. We always come to play against Iowa. First road game against a hungry team who feels like they could have beat us last year.

If we lose to Kent State by more than 7, I think we'll have a great idea of where the team is at. Fortunately I don't think that's going to happen.

Using the same argument everyone has had against this, wouldn't ISU have looked weird at one point?

I know we are technically Iowa State University and not just Iowa State but still that just a small technicality.

I wonder how strongly the correlation is between those conservative cyclones who don't want a new image or logo, and those conservative cyclones who feel we should be happy with 7-5 because that is as good as it gets.

I just want something that we can be happy with 40 years down the road and that won't seem outdated in the future. By that I mean something simple and understated or completely opposite from that lime/neon/teal green that was used on cars in the mid '90's like this.......

Vehicle Detail Page - AutoExtra.com

To me that is what the bird in a blender, Oregon Uni's and all that seem like. How is it all going to look 15 years down the road.

* The car reference is in this post to show how far off track this post has been taken, even with Bryce trying to bring it back.*

Penn State's helmet's don't say "P-state" on them. I just don't think Jamie is getting sound market-based advice. He says it is marketability and recognition driving the need for a helmet change. The helmet is one of the things that Macarney got right! Although it should be on a SAn Francisco 49er schemed and colored gold helmet.
I don't know what market research he is getting fed, but the swirling bird is awesome, it created interest, it is singular and unique amongst boring helmets, it is everything that we need. Leave it alone.
Anyone else notice that Chizik has had white helmets at his last two stops too? He likes a white helmet, so he gets a white helmet I guess.

Actually, we're technically "Iowa State University of Science and Technology", if you want to be picky.

Let's go ISUoSaT!

Now that would be hard to read from far away on a white helmet.

So condense it to:

SIT ... kinda like ATM.

Not only would it be the helmet logo, it could be a visual representation of what the people around me at games constantly tell me to do.

I don't know how this got off track, but how is I-State different from ISU or K-State or the MU or any other abbreviation? I-State stands for Iowa State, not eye-state or aye-state. I like the look, we've needed it for a long time.

I am not against it. Just stating that it will be a hard change to get used to. It really doesn't roll off the tongue right.

I don't think ISU will blow out the Flashes, but if KSU struggles early it's a possibility. Bad things seem to snowball on the Flashes pretty fast.

I've got family in Iowa and will be making the trip to Ames. I like ISU and U of I, but I've always liked ISU more. Hope you stick it to the Hawks and have good luck except on Thursday.

There's at least some forum members making the trip. KSU doesn’t really travel well, but I'm hoping with the holiday weekend we'll have a decent turnout. We did bring 2K to Navy two years ago, but KSU recruits the DC area very well.

My tix are in row 14 of section 16. I'm hoping that means KSU sold tix for the all of the rows below us. Ordered them a week and a half ago. I'm bringing my Dad, Grandparents who just moved to Ames from Webster County, a Uncle, and a Cousin. IDK who the Iowans are rooting for, I'm bringing all my KSU shirts just in case.

From what other ISU posters have said, the tailgate should be great. Should be ton's of fun no matter the result.
