I have been planning a trip to Alaska and thought about taking a day trip from my brother's place in Anchorage to Denali since they are so close to each other on the map. Actually it is a 4.5-5 hour drive one way.
Take the Dome train.I have been planning a trip to Alaska and thought about taking a day trip from my brother's place in Anchorage to Denali since they are so close to each other on the map. Actually it is a 4.5-5 hour drive one way.
This doesn't seem that surprising to me, I guess.Interesting one I learned due to the NFL playoffs. DC is further south than Kansas City, meaning the Commanders are the most southern team remaining in the playoffs.

I guess I always think of DC as part of the Northeast megalopolis, so it's further north in my mind. This doesn't seem that surprising to me, I guess.
And Seattle is the northernmost NFL franchise.Speaking football. Vikings are further North then Packers.
Yeah, it is interesting to read up on that. My brother and I drove by Athens on our way to Memphis for the bowl game and he mentioned it so I started reading up on it. It really brings it to life when you are right there. The northern most battle of the Civil War was between Croton Iowa and Athens, Missouri. August 5th, 1861.
I always think of it as pretty far south. I didn't think about it much until I did a bunch of reading on the Civil War and it hit home to me how precarious the location of our capitol was being right on the border of a CSA state.I guess I always think of DC as part of the Northeast megalopolis, so it's further north in my mind.
You can go about 20 miles east of the front range and it looks like Iowa. All the way till....Iowa.You can get out of the desert and it looks more like Colorado. Taking my boys boarding tomorrow (although there hasn't been much actual snow, unfortunately the Nino something)
Yeah, high plains, not that Iowa like imo. You are definitely outta the mountains though. You can go about 20 miles east of the front range and it looks like Iowa. All the way till....Iowa.
Google says the farthest north battle was in Vermont. I'm pretty sure southern Iowa is south of Vermont. The northern most battle of the Civil War was between Croton Iowa and Athens, Missouri. August 5th, 1861.
Oh Yellowstone does frequently have hydrothermal explosions. They had one I think in the Norris Geyser Basin this fall. Closed a large part of that area for several weeks.
So it will be a full day trip.I have been planning a trip to Alaska and thought about taking a day trip from my brother's place in Anchorage to Denali since they are so close to each other on the map. Actually it is a 4.5-5 hour drive one way.
Dang Denali in the winter, I would guess not pleasant. There for work of some type?Yeah I have made that drive. My mom is in Alaska right now at Denali. It's crazy when you look at the map, it's like oh that aint far. Well it is because the state is so big it don't look far.
