We Will Pizza!

We've definitely asked! I've learned way too much about pizza/grocery distribution and planograms. It's more complicated than I realized
The nasty planogram they are supposed to be set in concrete by corporate, but, there is always room to wiggle. So over run corporate with emails.

You ABSOLUTELY change the store towards your local market. Tofu and avocado don't sell as well in Iowa as say... California. So you definitely change the product selection towards the local market.

I understand HyVee is a little more clustered than national brands but if your ideas of a top down approach, then Iowa is not the demographic they're gonna shoot for and you guys are all gonna have a bad time.

Shark Tank is a small stupid example of how difficult it can be. Every time there is a food product, investors don't want any of that nonsense because getting shelf space is critical and almost impossible to get regularly.
I don’t disagree that you should change the store based on the market, but most corporate driven companies structure their product mixes to be a combination of Corporate driven “Must Runs” (such as all HyVee Brands and, up until recently I would have assumed We Will Pizzas) and local preferences that vary based on the demographics and preferences of the customer base for that unit. The idea that a local store director can override a corporate “Must Run” mandate is insane. If HyVee branded macaroni and cheese was not a fast mover in a unit as compared to Kraft, HyVee Corporate isn’t going to just let the store director stop selling HyVee branded macaroni and cheese. I get that shelf space in grocery stores is pretty limited, but if HyVee couldn’t fulfill their commitment or weren’t willing to fulfill their commitment to provide We Will Pizzas shelf space in every HyVee in Iowa (as referenced in the press release below), then they shouldn’t have made that deal with the university; or Corporate should force the individual unit to provide the shelf space, whether the individual store director want to or not.

Not blaming you, just commenting how weird it is that individual stores have more power than the headquarters so it seems.
That is the case with IC stores. If i were Ames Hyvee I would probably tell them to get bent if they tried to sell Swarm pizzas if there were such an awful thing.

a.k.a. Hawk fans

Reminds me of when I went to the Johnston HyVee and asked if they were going to get any Cody Road in. The spirts manager said, "That's a Cyclone product, right? Yeah, no. Not if I can help it. Go Hawks."

Go. Over. His. Head.

...and tell the store manager what response you got when requesting the product. It is one thing to say you don't have plans to stock the product. It is another thing to intentionally be alienating half of your customers.

This getting a free pass when being an asshat to rival fans in the course of your job has to stop. Too many people just shrug it off as a playful rivalry. That is all fine and good, but when you are in customer service and your are doing it to your customers it is unacceptable.

seriously appreciate you all fighting the good fight. It means a lot and is helping.
wife was at HYVee across from Valley West Mall and only had pepperoni and deluxe in a pile. So sad. A boycott of hyvee stores might get their attention but doudt it.
