We WILL be ranked next Monday..

When was the last time we were ranked?

Some people don't care if we'll be ranked and that's fine but I want to badly. Seeing that number next to our name will just make it feel like the good old days again. Being at that Kansas and K-State game felt that way, and I'm ready for more. Let's keep bringing old school ISU back.

I don't care how many teams are ahead of us. After beating KU and KSU in a row, if we beat OU we'll leapfrog enough teams that didn't beat KU and KSU both to be in the top 25. No doubt in my mind.

If OU didnt just beat KSU before we beat them i would say that we will be ranked.. But KSU fell way down so beating them doesnt look as good so no I dont think we will be ranked!

Another reason we'll be ranked: the RPI ratings have the B12 listed as the 2nd toughest conference. The 2nd toughest conference should have >3 teams in the top 25. We beat OU and we'll be in.

I want the number next to our name, selfish maybe? People take note of what top 25 teams are doing and yeah i do care what people think of our program and being in the top 25 would be a great feeling again its been a really long time

This team will be ranked at some point if we are going to go as far as we expect, and we will have to conquer whatever imaginary "we are ranked so stop trying to win" fairy that is coming for us.

For one thing it will be nice to get Iowa State scores without having to go through a couple of extra clicks on my iphone...

You can set the ESPN app for specific conferences and score updates for specific teams. just sayin.

So we won't be?
Eh I dont know. I would say yes. We have gotten alot of attention from the KU win and winning the next 2 after that against teams that are 5th and 7th? (I think) gets us in. If a win at Okie State comes as well I will say %100 we are at least in the top 25.

IF we win at OU, you have to look at teams ahead of us to see what will happen in the polls on Monday:

-UCONN has lost four in a row and should drop behind us in votes, even if they beat Seton Hall.
-Gonzaga is currently losing at BYU. We could jump ahead of them if they lose tonight.
-K-State lost to us, so we should obviously move ahead of them.
-Vandy lost to Arkansas and will likely lose to Florida. If that happens, we move ahead of them. If they pull off the upset, we'll probably get stuck behind them.
-Nevada was losing at home tonight to Utah State with less than a minute to go, but came back to win by one. That takes away some potential votes for us.
-WVU has lost three in a row. Even if they win at Providence, we should be ahead of them.
-Florida State probably stays above us even if they lose at home to UVA.
-Harvard shouldn't lose this week.
-Michigan beat Indiana, but has a tough game at Michigan State on Sunday. Will be interesting to see where they end up if they lose that one.
-Indiana lost to Michigan, but might stay ahead of us if they can get a win at Purdue. They've struggled on the road, so I'm guessing they lose that one.
-Wisconsin will stay in front of us, even if they lose to tOSU at home.
-Mississippi State probably stays ahead of us even with their loss to Florida, assuming they beat Auburn.
-Louisville should beat Rutgers, so we won't be able to pass them.
-Notre Dame will probably jump us, even with their 8 losses, if they beat Marquette this weekend.

So there are a lot of variables here. But I think a win over a solid K-State team, and a road conference win at OU gets us in the top 25, with a little help from Indiana, Vandy, and Gonzaga. If not, win both next week and removal all doubt.

As far as ranking potential, you did the legwork I was too lazy to do.

In all of that, I would be glad to delay being in the top 25 if U-M could beat MSU (for any slight bump in SOS in ISU's favor).

But, of course, beating OU is the minimum requirement to even have a chance.

Guys CLones21 guaranteed it why is there even a debate as to us being ranked after next game anymore?
