I see where you're coming from. My only argument is I think Shane's sociopathic tendencies were solely based on Lori and if that drama wasn't there, he wouldn't have been as bad, where as Carol is just kind of crazy period.
Carol lost her daughter because Sofia wasn't able to protect herself. That would account for the lessons she was giving to the children.
Burning the two group members with the flu is much the same as shooting Otis if you think about it. She was thinking of the greater good of the group. The group eventually isolated the sick ones, but even so, the sick ones came close to killing the rest of them when they turned. Carol took it a step farther than the rest of the group would have, just as Shane did.

Didn't say she was right...just that I don't view it as much different than Shane shooting Otis. Extreme measure that may or may not have been called for...
Shane shot to wound the guy and left him. He didn't put him out of his misery. Most people wouldn't do that to a dog, let alone another human.
Maybe my memory is going, but I thought Otis jacked up his leg jumping off that little ledge in the gym?
I actually think she was trying to save Woodbury more than the governor at that point.
A lot of people would be a lot better off if she would have knifed him in his sleep though.

Pretty sure they were both limping, Shane more than Otis.
They were almost out of bullets and if they had stuck together, neither would have made it.
Honestly, Otis should have sacrificed himself instead of forcing Shane to take him out. He was the dumb *** that shot Carl in the first place.

Thats correct. Shane messed up his leg, i think he even might have told Otis to go without him but he didnt, Shane realized that they both werent going to be able to get out and made sure one of them did.
Regarding the invulnerable characters, I think Rick, Carl and Michonne are pretty much bullet proof and I think Daryl is for as long as Norman Reedus feels like doing the show.
The other main characters are owned by the comics where the Dixon characters are owned by AMC. When they made a video game, (based on the show, not the Telltale one based on the comic) they made the main characters the Dixon brothers. I think they'd like to keep him around for stuff like that, plus for the reason that he's the most popular character and a wild card since he's not tied to any pre existing stories.
