Walking Dead

And it would seem that everyone on the show forgot about that little trick. That irritates me to no end. You can't just show this work in one episode and then never ever employ the tactic again. Big ****** error in the show in my opinion.

They've also talked about walkers "slowing" after not eating for a while. You would think a lot more would be running very low on food soon, especially in Atlanta where there is no local wildlife and people have abandoned the area.

I'm kind of surprised that they haven't stationed some walkers on treadmills to generate power (unless I've missed where it's been done).

THANK YOU! As an engineer, I have been thinking about harnessing this seemingly limitless source of power from the beginning of the show.

Harness them to a cart, with blinders, and a rat on a stick to keep them moving forward. Instant mule. I wonder how horsepower converts to walkerpower.

I've always wondered how this would work. Do they metabolize food for energy? Are they warm blooded then? If not why not move north where it was cold. If they were not generating their own body heat they wouldn't be able to function in the freezing temps. If they were warm blooded then they would have to be metabolizing food would they not? If this were the case, then starvation would be a factor which would suggest some sort of mortality, the body can only cannibalize itself for a limited period.

Agree.

Speaking of things that annoyed me in the last episode...

So it's a year and a half into the apocalypse yet there was a hoard of zombies that came out of a STANDING corn field...no way there's still corn standing.

Don't know why that bothered me so much but it did...

Also, it's been 1.5 years, surely the scientist dude would've learned how to fire an automatic weapon by now...

Maybe he was in another compound like woodbury before leaving on this mission, with military guys like Abraham guarding the place but civilians not doing much in the way of shooting.

Speaking of the corn field zombies.... it somehow bothers me how the zombies are able to sneak up so well. These are clumsy walkers that knock into everything and are making zombie-noises all the time. Yet theyre able to routinely get close enough to grab someone from behind without them even noticing?

I mean i know why its done, for dramatic effect, but still... try harder.

Yeah there have been lots of times I've noticed walkers suddenly appearing from right where the person was JUST looking.

Notably, in the prison right before the chaos that led to Lori having her C-section deep in the prison and T-Dog dying. Two separate groups of the survivors are standing there, looking across the grassy area of the prison yard. Rick and his group are looking directly at Carl and friends. Two seconds later... 20 walkers are withing 15 feet of everyone.

This is addressed in World War Z (the book, not the awful movie). They wouldn't be warm blooded, that's why their body parts rot and they get stiffer. In fact, they have no blood flow at all. (Obviously, this may or may not be the case in TWD world, though many claim World War Z as the zombie bible. Excellent read for any zombie fan.)

Also, somebody is still mowing all the grass. Including roadside ditches.

Perfect...so my plans to live on a BWCA island will work wonders.

Problem that arises in WWZ is that, because they're not alive with blood flow, they'll freeze and the body will preserve, but when spring hits and thaw comes, they'll start moving like usual again. You're only safe during the cold winter months and there's less food sources there.

Wouldn't the corn that was not harvested produce more corn the next year?

I think if you had no idea the book existed and saw the movie like that, it would have been at least entertaining. Not great, but worth a rental. The fact that it only had the title in common and that's it without taking anything from the book is what killed me. It's like when they bought the rights, they essentially just wanted to buy the name and make their own movie. Plus, how can you not have te Battle of Younkers in there?!?!
