Walking Dead

Started watching the marathon last night on dvr... I can't believe what I had forgotten about the first season.... favorite moment so far was Daryl's reaction when Carrol brains her abusive "zombie" husband. My DVR missed the first episode.. the only one I haven't seen in its entirety.

I assume you don't have netflix then?

If you have something to do a free trial on, go to netflix. All the episodes are available for streaming.

I'm sorry, I figured an almost direct quote from Herschel would be allowed in a thread about The Walking Dead. My bad.

No problem. I'd like to see Herschel do something as well. But unfortunately such discussions don't always work out and are best left alone outside the cave.

Started the netflix thing last month.... I was not very impressed with the selection and let the subscription lapse. On of the few things I started to watch was this episode... I got sidetracked and never got back to finish.... that's the life of a dad with four kids and one on the way.....

When are they scheduled to start showing the Season 3 episodes? I finally caught up to the end of Season Two on Neflix a couple weeks ago. Now I want to catch up to the current episode.

Season 3 episodes start Saturday night at 7pm and continue Sunday afternoon leading into the finale at 8pm.

Something tells me Rick and everyone will be out of the Prison before Woodbury arrives, but there will be lots of traps! It will be like the zombie version of the Home Alone house.

Alright, here's a couple things I don't understand.

The walkers make noises when they see food. They are actually pretty loud. How come nobody can hear them until they are two feet away?

Guns attract walkers. Didn't anyone in this show watch the movie 300? Don't they know anything about combat tactics? These walkers don't have ranged support, no air support. What's stopping the survivors from using phalanx tactics to protect themselves? All they'd have to do is raid a police station, pick up some riot gear, and form a skirmish line and they would never lose a soul.

I really don't get it.

A walker tied to a rope swings down and bites the Governor in the face?

I like it.

Its TV?

Yeah, it's much more suspenseful if the walker pops up out of nowhere.

They have used the "walker sounds in the distance, GETTING CLOSER" effect as well. But having a walker sneak up on Merle instead of him hearing it coming is much more of a shock and makes better TV.

It would be cool if they start learning their lessons and use better tactics in the future.

They have been smarter about using knives and spears instead of guns all the time lately though so as not to attract every walking in gunshot hearing range.

Don't underestimate what the shock, terror and emotional turmoil do to people's decision-making.

Stats used to show that most trained soldiers in WW2 didn't fire their weapons in combat. Instead, a whole lot froze or simply hid.
Unless you have a leader who's versed in the tactics and the people rally around that leader, it's mostly going to be chaotic failure, which is what you see in this case.

People get even more desperate when starving and on no sleep.
