Walking Dead

Still ****** me off. Especially since they need more soldiers on their side if they are going to take on Woodbury.

I think it just illustrates the level of distrust that exists among strangers now. The guy was wandering along a tree lined highway. How do you know he doesn't have 20 buddies with firearms chilling inside the tree line? If you stop your car to check the dude out, you are screwed. Especially if those people have no problems with killing others. Or maybe they are really hungry and aren't squeamish about cannibalism.

Exactly. Rough world. But realistically this is most likely how it would be in real life as well.

yeah i am surprised how spot on the spoilers are... i will look for the next one and post when i get a chance. All in all it was a decent episode. Just don't understand why they hadn't come back to this town yet?

What has surprised me most with this season is that there are apparently more survivors wandering around than what the first season hinted at and that they really aren't that far from where they started (so finding the prison probably shouldn't have been a surprise to them at the end of the last season)

I thought that he might play more of a role. Turns out he's really just a picture of the overall tragedy. Too alone to live, but the living didn't want to take a chance on him.

I think it's a contrast between two solitary portraits - a nomadic life on the road versus the existence Morgan has had to carve out in order to live alone in one place in that horrific world. Just how dangerous being alone "out there" would be, and the steps one would have to go through to make it in one place. Even then, you're very likely to lose your mind due to all kinds of factors, if you manage to make it physically.

I agree with you guys on why they didn't pick up the backpacker. Another thing to consider is that they were on a trip to get a bunch of weapons. Even if the backpacker wasn't a part of a bigger group, bringing a stranger to a large cache of weapons is never a good idea.

I wonder if that could be explained as necessity. In the first season youre in the first 90 days or so after the event. People might have food stocked up or could loot nearby areas. As time passes people are forced to be out and about more and more going further lengths to gather supplies. People are also likely getting a bit braver as they've hardened to this world.

This is what I was thinking also. Rick is in law enforcement and didn't know there was a prison that is apparently less than a day's drive from the town he lived in? Please.

I was really hoping that they would pass the hitchhiker on the way back and pick him up. I wasn't surprised that all they passed was his pack and that they decided to pick it up so they could get anything he had left.

I think it's another piece in Rick's personal puzzle in S3. He's struggling to beat back his compassion. This was setup in the S2 finale, so we knew it was going to be a conflict for him. He thinks that his heart compromises his ability to effectively lead the group at times, but it's also what makes us human. Even Carl wants him to step down since that's really the only way for Rick to stay his dad in a way that Carl knows him. The hitchhiker shows the hardening of Rick, and that's one of the main storylines of S3 - the development of the Ricktatorship. The group is thrown in the crucible and Rick most of all as the leader. Can they withstand the heat? Can he? How will they emerge and survive?

If someone had asked 'do you know if there is a prison nearby' he probably wouldve known where it was, but until he stumbled upon it he may just have not had the idea that it could be a great shelter.

It goes along with Morgan said. If you have anything someone is going to try to take it from you.

You have to live thinking that anyone you see is going to try and take anything you have.

Probably because I made it up.
