***Video Board Renderings Released***

From what I heard from a guy at Best Buy, EA will rotate yearly between NCAA basketball and NCAA football, meaning they will only release basketball for 2012 and Football in 2013, bball in 14, football in 15... etc. So this gives them until 2013 to make stadium adjustments.
 
I can't believe they did renderings in broad daylight when the Tech game was obviously at night...

I really hope there's no need for a pirate...
 
There will be metal panels/skirts around the base that extend up 15'-20' and have a slope to match the basement wall of the Jacobson Building. The details of the panels will be similar to the north elevation of the board itself.
 
Several people have complained that the scoreboard is too high over the Jacobson building and should be lowered to look like it is an extension of that buildng. That is not possible unless you redo the roof structure. There needs to be a gap between the too structures otherwise you will create a snow drift on the Jacobson roof that it was not designed to handle. And given the height of the scoreboard, you can imagine the size of the snow drift. So unless we want to cave in the roof the Jacobson, we will have to live with it. I am just wondering how many Cyclones fans it will take to bring it down after we win an national championship. Will it fit in the Lake LaVerne?

I highly doubt that happens. EA makes a TON of money on NCAA Football to just stop releasing it annually.

If true, interesting. I'm not an EA Sports player at all but I would think the amount of money from yearly releases would justify a release every year.

EDIT: I see I'm a little late to the pile on party.

It's a matter of perception...I know I looked at a lot of the mock draw ups that were on here and looked at the one at Miss. St that many thought ours would look like and since this is pretty different...it's a little disappointing. It's still 10 TIMES better than what we've got and there's a good shot that I will LOVE this when I see it really built.

I bet when the build the s end zone we will see some sort of new board to replace the old one being taken out. Probably a ribbon board, but something to offset the loss of advertising.

Like I said earlier, I don't think the first rendering on the thread was the best one and people probably based a lot of the complaining off of that rendering. Some of the renderings from other perspectives do a lot better job of showing off how big the thing really will be, and make it look a lot better than the first picture does.

There is a 0% chance that the new board is in there this year, maybe next year.

that, and the board will not be finished until two days after the game comes out. EA has said in the past that they don't add stadium upgrades to the game until they are actually finished.

I think he was feeding you a line of BS. they may be releasing a basketball game on that schedule, but NCAA Football isn't going to an every other year release schedule. It's quite popular/profitable on its yearly release schedule.

This means the videoboard will be done for the home opener against UNI, correct? I thought I remember them saying it wouldn't be done until after the first couple of home games. I hope the timeline has changed and its good to go for the UNI game!

That's not true at all! Considering NCAA Football 12 is already in progress and they have cancelled their basketball franchise. Why? The football game makes money to make up for the costs to make it where as basketball doesn't. Whoever told you this is an idiot and he's feeding you a load of crap!
