Updates on the 16-17 hoops schedule

It is a bit of a bummer that we dont have a single P5 conference noncon game at home this year.

Cincinnati is definitely an option that fits this bill despite the AAC not being "P5". I would easily rather watch Cincy at Hilton than Rutgers or Boston College or Washington State despite the "P5" thing.

But I wish we had at least one more quality opponent on the non-con schedule and ideally more. Maybe one more at Hilton and one as a true road game.

It would be good to have two home-and-away series going at all times, overlapping. Since the Cincy series ends this year, having one begin this year with the home game, then another when that series is a road game in 2017-18. Easier said than done, I'm sure, and that P5 that fell through could have been part of a similar plan.

It isn't that much different than last year, but I think that was slightly better. This season's early-season tournament is better, I think; and Iowa is on the road rather than home.

But in 2015, there was neutral Colorado game, and two of the sub-5's in non-conference (Buffalo and Chattanooga) just happened to be stronger than this schedule has (at least, it appears that way).

This is one area where selling out our stadium\arena could actually hurt the fans. There's no reason financially to try to bring in anyone to drive increased single game sales when the season is already sold out. So we go for the cheap options, whether that be in not bringing in major games to hilton, or continuing to schedule UNI on the cheap when we could be getting even easier FCS opponents that dont see us as this big rivalry game.

It is a bit of a bummer that we dont have a single P5 conference noncon game at home this year.

Or even a non-power 5 with any sort of reputation, like a Xavier, Wichita State, or a lesser team that at least has done something.

I know the game at Michigan was on the Big 10 Network, and wasn't the BYU game at Hilton on Cyclones.TV?

Also, the at Virgina game was on Comcast.

Those are older games. The Michigan game at Hilton was on ESPN2, the BYU game at BYU was on ESPNU and the S. Carolina game at Barclays was on CBS Sports and the venue likely helped out too.

But we are ISU fans. We want to ***** that the schedule is too weak, but then ***** when we lose 3 non-con games.

It would be so much worse than that. The amount of "Fire Prohm" and "Do these players even care?" threads would crash the new site.

They were part of the same home and home contract though. You said those games would not exist if it wasn't for ESPN or Fox paying for the games. ESPN isn't paying for the Michigan and ISU series and having one of the two games air on the Big 10 Network, same with BYU and one of the games airing on Cy.TV, and Virginia and one of the game airing on CSN.

Didn't know if this is already common knowledge or not known at all, but does anyone know when tickets to the Vanderbilt game will be available?
