Here are my three picks:

JOSH GREIBAHN (sp?): As you watch the replay of Shaggy's kick, keep an eye on Josh (the place holder), and see what a great job he does in getting a poorly hiked ball upright for Shaggy!

Christopher Lyle: his blocked FG helped stave off the Hawkeye momentum.

JuJu Vandervelde: His brilliant post-game analysis of last week's ISU-UNI game helped make this week's win so much sweeter than it already was going to be!!

OMG THANK YOU! I was wondering if anyone was gonna notice the great save for the hold by Griebahn...

Just as well, what the hell can you say about that blocked FG by Lyle? After seeing it live, I went back to watch the highlights on the DVR and that play was nothing but perserverance by Christopher right up the gut and getting his mits up at the right time.

Actually, as the clock was winding down just prior to the timeout, I was begging that we'd call time with 10 seconds left. I was thinking, if something gets botched before a kick is made, we'd still have time to call time out and set up for a 4th down FG try. Glad we made it on the first try!

The fact that this FG attempt was successful sheds light on just how important the entire FG UNIT (blockers, snapper, holder & kicker) is to the success of the attempts. We often find ourselves blaming & praising one person - the kicker - yet there are so many other factors that go into each attempt!

I think Chris Brown had one helluva game at SS coming in for Steve Johnson. I really remember a crushing tackle he had on Albert Young to prevent a 1st down

5 seconds is enough time to fall on a bad snap and get a timeout. Hell we actually snapped and kicked it and still had one second left.

I thought clock management was great. It really shut up all those people who wanted us to throw into the endzone a couple times at the end of the game. After that kickoff return, Iowa having 30 seconds to work with would have been a bad deal.

Chris did have several big tackles. There's really so many unsung heroes in the game, I agree with all of these plus some. Talk about a total team effort. Plus give a game ball to that piece of sod that tripped up the guy on Iowa's final kick return.

Its always all the little things that make a win, but in my mind we were two plays away from losing. If we didn't block the FG, then a FG on our part would not have won the game. Thats one. Two, the only deep threat catch by a true freshman and his first reception at ISU was clearly the most significant play. Without this, we would have been in no position to kick that FG like we did. Besides the game winning FG, that catch by Bates is the play of the game.

Here is the final hold by Josh. This is from a long distance, but it looks like a big callous or blister on Josh's right thumb.

Greibahn

Has Chizek ever said why Greibahn is holding snaps for Shaggy? Is it a matter of time for the snapper, Greibahn & Shaggy to work on it in practice?

I have thought not having a QB holding for Shaggy might hurt ISU during the season if there is a bad snap or limit our ability to run a fake from the FG formation.

Based on that blister on his thumb, Greibahn must have practiced this alot this week.

I'm always amazed that something as complicated as a placekick is successfully executed so routinely.

. Plus give a game ball to that piece of sod that tripped up the guy on Iowa's final kick return.

That last play would not have counted anyway there was a flag on the play against Iowa so I just can not give a game ball to that sod.

WHY DID THEY KICK IT DEEP TO START OFF WITH???? My friend and I were talking on the way out of the stadium and we deteremined it was miscommuication....GC said kick it to the Fattest guy on the field and Shaggy heard "kick it to the fastest guy on the field".

My heart was sinking when he crossed mid field.

Allen Bell:

I thought Bell played a great game at corner. He ate the Iowa wide receivers alive. He was all over the field and in on a lot of tackles. I thought he was impressive. To me, it seemed like most of the Iowa completions came against Singleton.

One of the best parts of the game, no vulgar t-shirts worn by the students. This has shown a lack of class in the past so hope for continuation.

Agreed about Chris Brown - great game.

And there were two snaps on field goals that were low, hitting or grazing the ground before they got to the holder (one in the first half, the other the final kick). Great job both times!

i thought catlett played pretty well.. he made some good blocks and caught a couple of passes

got to give some love to D. Williams for not dropping any punts

and bibbs for making the final tackle....

but really i have to give my hat off to the entire Defense.. they really stepped it up and i hope they continue to play that way along with the o line, the fact that iowa hasnt aloud 100 yards rushing in a game and we do it in the first half is awesome
