***UCF - Game Week Discussion Thread***

According to SP+, which is my favorite analytics ranking, KSU is the "best" team in the B12. We are second at 21st. We are in that 15-30 range in most analytic rankings that ignore your W-L records.

If nobody watches UCF, then why did the Big 12 invite them?

I tend to agree with you
Because out of the G5 teams we could add, they have the most potential. UCF is still a very young institution with a very young alumni population....yes, they're a massive school but they are still playing catch up from a brand perspective.

But UCF has all the potential in the world to be a world class university and athletics department. Orlando is the most visited place in the entire country and the talent that surrounds them is abundant. All it really takes is a good coach and you're pretty much set up for immediate success. I don't think Gus has it.

we basically have to hope for BYU and Iowa State to meet up undefeated in Arlington if either of us wants any shot at an at large bid.....there are still some major SEC teams who will take losses.....Bama is at Tennessee this week, UGA is at Texas, UGA still has to go to Ole Miss....lots of chaos ahead....just need the Clones to keep on winning
No.

BYU has to hope to be undefeated when they reach Arlington if they want an at large bid.

Exactly. Before i was playing the "statistical" look at the idea of losing one in regular season to then beat maybe the same team in the champ would be the way to do it...but 12-0 would be ideal (and of course winning the big 12)...but 12-1 you'd think could get us in as by then we'd likely be a top 5 team.

one week at a time....in a few weeks if we keep that up we can play scenarios and figure out who to cheer for each week.

I think they wore their space uniforms against us last year. Don’t know if they take those on the road but would be a good contrast since we are wearing one of their school colors.

We were their Space Game when we played at their place in basketball last season. Drove down to Orlando to cheer on our guys and the crowd was probably 30% Cyclones.

But the Space Game aspect was a ton of fun. They had their old Citronaut mascot walking around (alongside Knightro), dropped aliens from the rafters during timeouts, and had some awesome video board and lighting stuff. It's one of the coolest things in all of collegiate athletics. Almost felt bad about beating the **** out of them. Almost.

black unis are ok

wish it was a different opponent.

maybe UCF will go with all whites w/ gold helmet but they could easily wear black helmet/black pants, too

maybe there is a rule about helmets needing to be different colors? I don't know.

Out of top 5 teams Texas Tech has the easiest schedule IMO. The last 3 games for ASU is pretty brutal. Kansas State is tough too but most of those are at home. BYU isn't too bad but still has road games at Utah and ASU.

Pretty sure the only rule is the visiting team has to wear white unless they agree to swap with the home team.

Agree- all blacks vs a team that typically features a lot of black in their uniform probably won't "pop" that much.

While walking out the door, my wife mentioned that she read fans are encouraged to wear black on Saturday. I think she said something about seeing an e-mail from the bookstore.

The only official themed games were Cardinal and white. Trying to get everyone to wear black Monday before the game is a moot point.

I saw the football team tweeted that they are wearing black, but I didn't see anything about the crowd having to wear black. I would say it is an unofficial blackout.

I got this email from Authentic Brand this morning. Email title was this: "We Heard It's a Blackout in Ames ⚫" I don't get it.
