Mensa will be fine. Gives him time to finally figure out cold fusion or something.
I could be fine with $15M. Guessing he ends up as an OC in the NFL. May not have the ability to run a team, but the guy can still call plays.
Sark is a bit of a job hopper which for normal organizations would be a red flag. If he is the next Texas HC, that will be his sixth job at six locations since 2013. That's a lot of hopping even in the coaching ring where bouncing around happens more.

Well, with the payout that these coaches are getting, he probably doesn't actually have to go back to work for a long time, if ever, if he can live even slightly conservatively.
I thought the same thing about Fred after the big payout from the Bulls. I suppose he just got bored. How are things going for Neb MBB these days anyway?

I think Sark is a fine coach. He's got some demons, to be sure, but he's not terrible. I guess I don't see him as an upgrade over what they already had. It feels like we're going to be going through this exact same song and dance in 4 years. The money is shocking, but only because we're not Texas. Money doesn't mean the same thing to them.
What does it take to start a “coaching search firm?” I feel like me and a couple buddies could do a better job than some of these firms that get paid big bucks to assist in hiring of new coaches. This one makes no sense and doesn’t appear to be a good fit at all if it is Sarkisian.
Only a handful of school, even among the elites, that could afford that kind of buyout in 2021. Just shows how much money they have. Can't remember which ISU AD but one said back in the day that he wouldn't even know how to spend the money Texas has.
??? He took over a Washington program that was the worst in the Pac-12, didn't win a game the year before he got there - and he turned it around.
Went 9-4 his first year at USC then was fired early in the second. Uh, yeah, he won.
Great hire by Texas. Much better situation than either Wash or USC.
He’s still a much better head coach than Herman IMO. I think Herman had a great offensive mind, and will be picked up as a OC by a big time program or NFL program.
Texas football is already barely contained chaos. This move would only add to that. It makes no sense. Is the Texas brand damaged that badly? This is unreal, I can't imagine what their fans are thinking...this is more about Herman than Sarkisian. Has to be.
The advantage of Sark is that he's liked as a person generally. So he should be able to build a better staff than Herman could.
So Texas is spending this money and taking a coach with some risk to get similar output?
I'm an Atlanta Falcons fan. I saw the post-Super Bowl offense he ran with that team. I double down on my statement that I'm not scared in the least of him being at Texas.
Spending 25 million to fire a guy who with a normal schedule would've had 3 more easily winnable games, probably would've had a 10-3 record, with those 3 losses coming by a combined 6 points in regulation seems like a dumb move. Like nebraska-level. Then doing it to get a coach who has generally only gotten 7-8 wins seems like an even bigger mistake.
Agreed and I don't really see any magic in Alabama offensive scheming. I see 3 incredible offense players and the best O-line in college football that make every play look genius.
I'd bet, for better or worse, being Saban's staff as OC improved Sark's attractiveness to Texas.
