Dream On - Aerosmith
This Present State of Grace - Flogging Molly
The Boxer - Simon and Garfunkel
Got It In You - Banners
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones

It's so tough to leave out entire genres.

With Dream On, the original is great, but I think I like the re-recording Aerosmith did for the Last Action Hero soundtrack. While not really a cover it might as well have been with how much Steven Tyler’s voice changed through his career.

Damn, you all listen to some good tunes. Glad to see Chris Cornell is brought up as much as he is. Tough to make a top 5. Nirvana "OH Me" is my favorite song. From some of what you've all posted. "Ace of Spades".."A Day in the Life" (that last chord gives me shivers).."Fake Plastic Trees". Distrubed's "Sound of Silence" is probably my most recent top 5. My oldest would probably be Johnny Cash "Sunday Morning Coming Down"

Some great stuff in this thread. Hard for me to pick Top 5 because they probably shift with mood and day, but I always think these are pretty good:

Fight Test - Flaming Lips
… And She Was (E.T. Version) - Talking Heads
Holland, 1945 - Neutral Milk Hotel
Don’t Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Factory Belt - Uncle Tupelo
Flaming Lips… great pull.

Word.

I’m not sure if youve heard it before but listen to the Zac Brown/Aslyn song I posted in this thread above. It has a similar type vibe and is a phenomenal song.

It is so emotional and great!

Testifying
I made a top five from other people's top 5.

@Angie
“Lost Cause” - Beck

@3TrueFans
Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead

@JP4CY
Faces: Stay With Me
Elvis Costello: Pump it Up

@MuskieCy
Neil Young: Hey Hey My My
Ronnie's riff on Stay With Me is so freaking amazing. He's got more talent than I think most people recognize because of how big a personality Keith is with the Stones guitar wise.

I can't remember a lot of things anymore so my list is probably not my true Top 5, but what I could think of as my Top 5 for each major transition in my life.

Everclear - Santa Monica or Father of Mine
Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Blur - Song 2
Korn - Blind, Shoots and Ladders, Freak On A Leash, Got The Life (pretty much everything)
DC Talk - Jesus Freak
Limp Bizkit - Faith
Motionless In White - Loud (**** It)
Badflower - Ghost, The Jester, Family (pretty much everything)
I Prevail - Deep End (pretty much everything)
Falling In Reverse - Watch The World Burn (pretty much everything)
Godsmack - pretty much everything
Shinedown - pretty much everything

I'm going to be honest, I did not expect to find Limp Bizkit in this thread.
