Three years ago today...

Agree faking the extra point was a gutsy decision and set up perfectly. Only problem was the guy throwing the pass was a backup lineman or something and missed our wide open tight end by 10 yards. Kind of like Netten getting a pass halfway to a wide open Bibbs last year against Oky State while we've got 5 qb's sitting on the bench doing nothing.

For being a know-it-all you sure have a poor memory.

If you are talking the Nebraska game it was the back up punter holding and he didn't miss the TE, he underthrew it into a head wind. It would have gotten to him but the underthrow allowed the defender who was out of position time to get back and make the play.

He didn't miss him by 10 yards.

The way I remember it our tight end was all alone and nobody within 10 yards of him, and our backup punter sent a flutterball into the wind that got about halfway to our tight end, which is something you might expect from a backup punter who probably never thew a football in a real game (like Netten).

Never claimed to be a know it all, and I think my memory of that play is pretty accurate.

Would be great if somebody could link that play and everybody could see for themselves how wide open our tight end was, and what the pass looked like. I think it will show my memory is pretty accurate.

IIRC, it got halfway because it was intercepted. Ball would have hit him in the hands.

If you truly believe that, I'm pretty sure there is no help for you.

Look at Rhoads' record at the point the contract was signed and then look at the record of the three years before Rhoads' arrival and you will get a more accurate vision of why a new contract was offered.
Paul's record at that point was pretty mediocre. A bowl season with players he didn't recruit, followed by a losing season, and then a season with a miracle upset to become bowl eligible. After the OSU game, the season flat out tanked.

That's a lot different than saying he got the job because of one game...

Just re-watched it a couple of times. The tight end was running a short out and the ball was so badly underthrown he was trying to stop to get back to it when it was intercepted. I'm not blaming the kid who threw the pass, he's probably never thrown one in a game before. But any qb would have led the tight end, not thrown it behind him. Now let's replay Netten's pass from the Oky State game. And again I'm not blaming Netten for badly underthrowing his pass as I'm pretty sure he's never thrown a pass in a game as I saw a lot of his high school games, and he only kicked. Never saw him throw a pass on a fake field goal either, though I didn't see every Ankeny game.

Just like today where anyone that isn't 100% on the "Fire Rhoads!!!!!11!1!1" bandwagon is automatically a Rhoads lover, apologist, Iowa state football hater, loser, and troll.

You forgot "sunshine pumper," which is one of my personal favorites.
