Things to do while in San Antonio

Uber?

Like a taxi service where its someone's personal car. You get on your phone, get located, tell it where you want to go. Then it pays them digitally thru your account-paypal, CC, etc.

Yeah, they pick you up. Drive where you tell them. Lock the doors and keep going. Take you to an abandoned farm site, torture and maim you while they loot everything you have.

You do save about 30% over a taxi though..

:)

They also say "Candy Cane" in a creepy voice.

Your experience with Uber was vastly different from mine.

Oh no I know what uber is.... I just didn't know what exactly was meant by "digital uber card." I get what you were saying now. Guess I should have read what you said a little more slowly, haha.

I have had uber linked with PayPal for quite some time.

Instead of mailing you a plastic gift card, they email you a code that you plug into your app like you are preloading a balance.

I'd stay on I-35 to Dallas. Should be slightly quicker.

You can bypass the mess that is I-35 in Austin by exiting on the TX-130 toll road before you get to Georgetown. You could take it all the way to I-10 and head west to San Antonio.

I live north of Dallas and take the Joplin route every time we go home. The towns are not that bad and it saves us about an hour. Plus, I would rather deal with the Dallas traffic on that side than 35.

Is 130 the one that has the 85 MPH posted limit? Had a buddy who bought a new Camaro and wanted to hammer it out there. Blew up his engine before he got there, though. Lemon law'd that sucker.

Yep.

And I'm not saying the Joplin route is bad. If you do take Hwy 69 through Oklahoma, just note what a previous poster mentioned about traffic being a big slowdown in the "small" towns with congestion during the day and some really crappy traffic lights.

What is the Fan Fest? I can't find much of anything about it on the Alamo Bowl website. I suppose it is just vendors and activities around the stadium.

That's hilarious

Yeah, he was taking it easy getting out there when it decided it was done. I think that it had a messed up head gasket that none of the mechanics could figure out. Rather than tell them what the issue was (that he figured out from YouTube), he let them try to fix it however many times and then filed the lemon law paperwork.

I made my ringtone for him "I Can't Drive 55".

I think a lot of those super tuned, super high HP motors have very tight tolerances inside the motor. They basically push everything to the limits, so if anything is slightly off it doesn't take a lot to blow them up. Just part of the deal when you buy that 500+ HP beast. Your buddy did the right thing by getting rid of it.

We plan to arrive (driving) on game day mid morning. Where do you suggest we park so we can hit the Alamo, River Walk, game, and get out of town asap after the game? Thanks.

We're going to the Natural Bridge Caverns.

We're also planning on going to the Stoney LaRue concert Saturday night at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels. Gruene Hall is a Texas Red Dirt music legend. I'm pumped to go, and Stoney LaRue has good music. It's about 45 minutes from the Riverwalk.
