I have no knowledge that this is true, but is it possible that Deaton and the Curators are intentionally stalling the process as a way of negotiating the exit fees?

If this is the case, then the Big12 needs to just start releasing schedules for 2012. That will either force them to stay for next year or deal with buying out those games. I still don't understand the end of the year deadline the Big12 gave them, but now with no chance if them staying, a new deadline needs to be stated. Just tell them if they leave after October 31st, there will be no negotiation.

I don't know if they're intentionally stalling, but like most negotiations, one side may be more time-sensitive than the other. You're absolutely right...MU has 2-3 more months before the sliding scale window jacks up the cost (only 10%). And if the SEC is fine waiting, then MU has no reason to hurry things along (other than to appease its fans). If that time is leverage to lower the buyout, then they'll use it.

Had they conditionally withdrawn last week, that leverage isn't there. Maybe these guys actually KNOW what they're doing!

Eh, probably not.

If that is in fact the case, then is it worth it to the Big 12 to have their attorneys working on this (instead of expansion) for the next couple months just to get an additional $5-$10M from MU?

(I have a feeling this isn't going to be a very popular position...)

I can't wait to watch you guys lose. It's going to be fun for me. I don't even root against Iowa, but I will root against you simply because of the utter stupidity of this move. You go from place you fit in perfectly with to the SEC East? That's ridiculous.

Re: Complain much?:

Don't open it if you don't like it. It does, however, contain up-to-date discussions.

Yeah... just for whatever reason the mods havent renamed it to something more reflective of the fact that its become the general realignment thread, not just TAMU.

Perhaps the delay is the SEC? Maybe they don't have the votes to admit mizzou? Boy, THAT would be freakin' hilarious! Couldn't happen to a bigger bunch of ******-bags!

Missouri has not announced they are leaving the Big 12.

The Big 12 is fine with that.

There are issues with MU leaving that are preventing them from doing so. Or they would have left in order to be accepted into the embrace of the SEC by now and get on with life.

If they think stalling is going to provide them with some sort of leverage, they do not recognize the landscape. There are no other dominoes to fall, no other scenarios that would force the Big 12's hand.

No one is joining the Big East until the fates of UL and WVU are decided--that conference put out offers to schools more than a week ago without any takers. UL and WVU have no place to go except the Big 12. Big 12 will take one, or both, of those schools I think under the right scenario. But those scenarios do not even come into play until Mizzou departs.

So we wait for Mizzou.

Kind of wish that they would rename it so people would stop posting a new thread every time they see a new tweet.

That or institute a new policy that you can only submit a new thread if you pinky swear that you have at least glanced at the other threads on the front page.

MO is all about Mo' Money.

The BE cancelled their super conference meeting today. BOISE STATE is trying to move to BE without their Olympic sports. Louisville is waiting. WVU is waiting. The whole BE is waiting. The whole Big 12 is waiting. The SEC is waiting. MO is looking like bad actors to the rest of the football world. Cm'n man, get off the pot.

Seriously, pop some popcorn and go read the WVU and Louisville message boards tonight. They are at each others' throats tonight.

I think the Big 12 may be working on a proposal to bring them both in to the league, if they can get some concessions from each on the monetary stuff for a while. They'd both be nuts not to take it, if offered. Hope they don't get ****** off enough to screw it up.

I never thought watching two schools develop an instantaneous fresh hatred for each other would be such an entertaining read....

We need to stay classy though. It was very close to being us in their shoes. I am just happy we are fine...for now...again.

So has the national guard issued a burning couch warning for KY and WV yet?

The WVU scout site is awesome today. Great reading. Literally 10 different guys saying they know something and they got 10 different rumors going. Then the Pitt game started and the conversation turned to how much they hate Pitt. They are just like us. Paranoid, rumor mongering, and negative as hell, and they hate everyone but their own. I love it, we have to get these guys in the conference.
