Why does Boren want MWC schools? Take some of the Big East schools. I'd be fine w/BYU and AF, but lets add a Louisville to that.

I agree. I don't want to see TCU upgraded to a BCS league. I know they are scheduled to be in the BE next year but I'd rather see that league go away and have them in the Mountani West.

I have nothing against TCU, but we already have enough Texas flavor in the conference. Upgrading them to the Big 12 just makes it more difficult for us.

My choices would be
BYU
L'Ville
West Virginia- I know they don't exactly fit in from a geography standpoint but those hillbillies seem like a riot, and you can drink in their stadium.

I honestly think the B12 does not want to implode the BE. We'll see. I don't see us taking BE schools unless we take all of them.

OU: perfectly fine with blowing up the big 12 and screwing over teams like ISU\KU\KSU that it has nearly century-long relationships with. Not ok with blowing up the big east that has only even existed for 30 years, and half of the remaining fb teams havent even been members for 10 years.

Screw that...go after the school with the best potential TV market. Even if it happens to be TCU (I honestly don't have the numbers to know who does).

I have no problems destroying the big east if the ACC and SEC join in as well. I would rather see there become 5 strong BCS conferences than 6 with one that is full of stragglers.

Not saying it isn't stupid...just saying nobody once to be the first one to implode another conference it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if the B12 takes the same stance.
Maybe we steal Louisville only along with BYU/TCU for 12. The BE could likely survive that....maybe.

West Virginia fits essentially as well as BYU, particularly if Louisville is added.

As others have mentioned, I think the Big XII needs to expand either West (BYU, Air Force, TCU/Houston) or East (Louisville, West Virginia, Cincinnati).

This is my first choice.

My second choice would be those 3 plus two from among AFA, Cincy, and TCU to go to 14. AFA and Cincy aren't that bad geographically if we're adding BYU, WVU and Louisville.

Third choice would be BYU only and keep a finger on the trigger for 2 or 4 quality teams to add.

It's only a matter of time until TCU declines. When they do, picking them as a 10th team will make little sense. Small enrollment, bad facilities (although they're improving), and they stink in all other sports than football.

I'm curious why you think this. If TCU jumped to a conference that could pay $20 million/year in TV revenue, their athletic budget would be pushing $70 million/year. With that kind of budget, they can support competitive coaching salaries and facility upgrades. It's not obvious to me that they will go into a state of decline.

They have a solid baseball team that makes the NCAA tourney almost every year.

First, I forgot about TCU baseball. Yes, they are very good and I'm sure they'll continue to be no matter what.

Second, as far as why they will go into a state of decline, how'd they do in the 20-30 years prior to Gary Patterson? He has singlehandedly built their program into a power. I'm just not convinced they can beat Texas, OU, and other top teams on a regular basis to continue to build up the wins and therefore continue to recruit kids to a top program.

Maybe I'm wrong though.

In the end, I point to TCU as another example of the insanity of college sports today. Why shouldn't TCU be a no-brainer to play in the Big 12? They have built a successful program and are right in the heart of the conference geographically...Oh yeah, its not about success so much, but TV sets. You put their same program in a major media market the B12 doesn't already have covered and they'd have an invite already.

despite being in the top 10 and being in the massive DFW metroplex, in football crazy texas, they only were drawing 35-45k for their games last year. And last year was good numbers for them. Go back even a couple years and you'll see attendance numbers that are much lower. What happens when they're 4th or 5th in the big 12?

They would have a HUGE jump in attendance in the Big 12. Who draws more, Colorado State or Texas Tech? They can play the same Big 12 card we can and that will help their recruiting. There is a very good chance they'd compete with the Oklahoma State/Missouri part of the conference (above average, but not OU or Texas).

*Not vouching for their inclusion, but making a point.

What happens when they play a big12 schedule? That being said I would rather expand our footprint to other states.
