The Older I Get...

The more excited I get for the Season Opener. I have been bouncing off the walls all day thinking about tailgating and watching the game next Saturday, I have no clue how I will get through next week.

Also, I miss the ticker at the bottom of the page.
I told Chris about the ticker at the bottom of the page when we moved to the new site but a bunch of CF'ers started ******** about it and saying they did not want it back. I really miss that countdown to the next game.

I liked taking a screenshot so I could post "Soon" on the Twitter.

I would agree. I remember one game 5-6 years ago waking up, going about by morning and remembering "oh ****, I have tickets to the Iowa State game today." Now, I'm not far from laying out my game day clothes tonight.

I'm the opposite. Other things keep creeping higher on the list of importance.

Still excited, no doubt, but family, friends, work, etc all keep getting more important to me and ISU sports less.

When I was in high school or college I was probably too Excited about ISU sports, so I have a high baseline I'm comparing to.

I've spent the last few days worrying about tailgate food. Got some vegetarians coming to our tailgate. From what I can tell, all they eat is chips and chocolate. Maybe chocolate dipped chips? But other than tailgate food, I'm excited. First time I have had season tickets since I was a student a very long time ago.

Whar gifs?

For me it is more about seeing everyone and being able to enjoy a whole day in one of my favorite places on earth, The Tailgate Lot's at Jack Trice.

Make Baba Ganoush. My girlfriend is like 80% vegetarian, and I can never go wrong with a good Mediterranean place. I even like most of the stuff she gets too. Eatery A in Des Moines has a killer baba ganoush if you want to try and deconstruct it from taste.

I've made that before, I love eggplant. They could dip their chips in there. Friends of my brother, he claims they just eat junk food even though they are vegetarians. I thought everyone who went that route was healthy lol. If I throw some bread in, I thought we could also make grilled cheese.

Two thoughts if they're vegetarian:

1. You could always ask them to bring their own food if they're super anal.

2. Ask them for a recipie for food they'd like to eat, they may really appreciate that you're trying to respect their choices.

If they're vegan uninvite them. Bunch of weirdos!!

Yeah I would agree with that. I should have said that the outcome of the game means less and less to me as I get older.

You are right though - next Saturday is like an old family/friend reunion - nothing quite like it!

Have a GREAT time at the games, Carvers! Wish we were still going...until I go sit through a game, and then I remember WHY we aren't going. I shall cheer loudly enough from my couch so that you can hear me in JTS, and will count down the days to the exhibition game in Hilton on 6 November. :)
