The Nick Babb Complex

CF apparently requires at least one player to rip on every year, whether it's Anthony Booker, or BDJ, or Matt Thomas, whoever. Not sure why. Not sure how one is anointed with the dubious distinction. Wish it would end. Always rooting for Nick and all of our guys.
Melvin Ejim got roasted for stone hands.

Player A: (25 minute of playing time): 8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 37% FG, 37% 3Pt, 82% free throw

Player A: (25 minute of playing time): 5.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 36% FG, 33% 3Pt, 67% free throw
Player B: (25 minutes of playing time): 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 45% FG, 30% 3Pt, 71% FT

I changed Player A's per 25 numbers (originally Chris Babb's sophomore year for those curious) to his numbers from his first year playing at ISU.

If we pick up ZT, that'll give us one more option at the 3 spot. Nick has every capacity to do very well, but doing it is up to him. So far it hasn't come together yet.

He's versatile and I see no reason he won't score around 10 ppg in 25 min/game.

The number of players that have scored 4.0 ppg or less to the number of players who scored 10 ppg since 1990 in the ISU program totals zero. I might have missed one but that big of a jump is huge.

Not sure this is a great analogy and it will probably get criticized but I'll give it a go.

NWB is like Joel Lanning, hasn't shown to be an elite player but can get the job done at the Big 12 level with the right pieces around him. Luckily for NWB, we have a lot better pieces around him than Lanning had. In usual CF(all sports fan) fashion, the backup QB is always a better option. Everyone is anointing Lewis as our Jacob Park.

Why. I'm comparing 2 different players in their second season of division 1 competition

I'm predicting the player that gets dumped on next year to be Young. Everyone loved him last year, but I suspect that if he doesn't average a double double, people will turn on him fast.

Umm, Naz Long.

Also, how many players have played with 4 senior NBA prospects.

I thought your comparison was great, but I thought it was also interesting to note that older bros per minute numbers as a junior weren't any better than Nick's as a sophomore.

I think he means that to 10ppg from less than 4ppg. Naz had a season where he averaged 7 or 8 before going over 10.

My first thoughts were Tyray and Homan but those guys didn't do it either.

A few things about Babb:

1. Prohm thinks that Babb has a lot of potential. I trust Prohm on that.

2. I do think that Prohm thought he needed to work harder last year. I assume that he has done that.

3. Towards the end of the season, it became clear that Iowa State was better with a bigger lineup out there. So that meant Young started and Bowie was the next big off the bench. We had 3 very, very good guards starting and another good point guard off the bench. There just wasn't much time for another guard to play.

4. As often happens with freshman (and Babb is a kid who didn't play much as a freshman and sat out a year), I think he hit a wall in the middle of the season. And as discussed above, there just wasn't a place for him in the rotation. BUT when he did get in late in the year (West Virginia especially) he was good.

Basically, I don't think we can make any real predictions on what he is going to do next year or not.
