The Dark Knight tonight!

Absolutely incredible. My college friends and I got together this weekend in Dubuque. The one who lives there managed to get us a private midnight screening on Friday. Just an amazing movie. As I told them, I've seen a fairly significant portion of the AFI Top 100, and I really couldn't name a performance better than Ledger. He's not a clear-cut 'winner' by any means, but, at least in my book, delivered one of the greatest acting performances of all time. Of course, after the awe wore off a bit, it just ****ed me off even more that he such an idiot and got himself killed. He was so talented and was just starting to show it. And you could tell Nolan wanted him for the next movie. Too bad.

I want to start some debate of who people think the villain or villain's of the third movie might be? There is a small hint to cat woman, or maybe it was just me reading far too much into the lines. I think I would prefer to see the riddler. Not the same riddler that jim carrey played but a more demented psychotic riddler.

Sounds like what one of my friends Jay was saying. But, we discussed that Johnny Depp would do a good job as the Riddler. Also, another guy I know, Andrew said he really wants Robin to be introduced.

I think Christopher Nolan has said he wont put robin in his batman movies, which is really good. I think alot of people still have a bad taste in their mouth from batman and robin

I think this entire Batman series is way too dark to support a role of the likes of Robin.

However, in a conversation with friends after seeing the movie, considering Bruce Wayne's love interest was killed off in this movie, the next movie could be time to introduce a "dark" Catwoman...

I think they could pull of Robin if they wanted. As I recall weren't his parents killed off in front of him? (And all the others in attendance at the circus) And he is taken in by Wayne and wants to go out and seek revenge? As his story was handled in the past it certainly wouldn't fit in the latest movies, but I would think there would be potential to approach his character and story in an entirely new way. He could very much be a brooding, anguished character bent on revernge as the result of a truly disgusting act.

I'm certainly not pushing for Robin, I still have the same bad memories as others from the older movies, but I don't think it would be impossible to fit him in with the new darker feel of the newest films.

Nolan won't put Robin in his films. Bale doesn't want to, either. The original plan was to feature the Joker in the third film, as well, but obviously now the plans have changed. There has been some rumor of the Riddler.

Personally, I'd like to see someone new, like Killer Croc or Clayface, even though neither one is a major enough villain to be featured in a film. Catwoman, I think, kinda falls into the same category as "Robin", although if they found the right actress, we wouldn't have to associate the name "Catwoman" with Halle Berry anymore.

Suggestions from Batman's Rogues Gallery:

1) Catwoman - as mentioned earlier potential new love interest..could be interesting
2) Riddler - I have a hard time thinking of the Riddler and not picturing Frank Gorshon...if they go with him..make him Joker crazy
3) Ventriloquist?
4) Mad Hatter - Again, another insane criminal..only with an Alice in Wonderland motif.

I like how these latest movies seem to be grounded and not in comic book/ campy tv show reality.

Catwoman I think could be done well. I don't ever think of Halle Berry when I think of Catwoman, I still see Michelle Pfeiffer.

The Riddle could be a good foe, but he's really similar to the Joker, still the 'joking' maniac, I don't think he'd be enough of a different kind of villain. I think Mr. Freeze could be done well by Nolan.

Either way I just saw this on an 83'x65' IMAX screen and it was one of the most incredible movies I've ever seen, go see it!

Did anyone else feel repulsed by Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance?

Something that she did towards the very beginning of the movie really rubbed me the wrong way. I can't remember what the line, or exchange was, I need to watch it again, but I really didn't like her as Rachel Dawes...

Other than that I thought the movie was great.

The Dark Knight was pretty good, not as good as I was expecting. Ledger's performance was admirable, but were he still alive, there'd be none of this Oscar talk. He was great, but not Oscar great.

I think I liked Batman Begins a LOT better. This movie was very monotonous with its quick pace. It was exciting, but it was a one note song at best. I may have to see it again before I make up my mind.

I thought it was very exciting and intense, my wife actually got mad at me because I was continually nervously popping my knuckles. I didn't think it was a whole lot more than an action movie though - it was 2 1/2 hours long but a TON of that was action scenes or little short scenes setting up the next action scene.

I liked it very much, I thought it was incredibly intense, but it was even a little too dark for me - I didn't like both Rachel and Harvey dying along with Batman now being the bad guy. I mean that was a heck of an ending, and even though I usually really like the middle film where everything is stacked against the heroes (like the Two Towers or Empire), it just seemed like a lot to me.

Bryce, might wanna change the font color of some of your post
