With the team we had during the Montgomery era he was absolutely the best type of back for us to have. I think if you were to put Breece behind some of the o-lines Montgomery had Breece would still be effective but not nearly at the same level as he was last season and the year before. Overall though, Breece has better breakaway speed and I think he slightly edges out Monty.
The program in large part where it is because of DM the "five star culture" was bought into deeply by DM.
That 1 handed catch thoughhhhh....I feel like he was slightly faster his freshman year, but maybe it's because he added some bulk last year to handle more hits.
Yeah, that catch by Breece was dirty. The kid needs to take a shower for all the filthy in that highlight tape.
If all goes well I think we're going to enjoy watching J. Brock when he has the ball.
They really aren’t comparable. Brock is more comparable to Montgomery than Breece, but Brocks problem is he had Breece in front of him. and Kene who was a veteran with world class speed and an NFL draft pick without starting at Iowa State.
Yes - if David is an impact starter in the NFL and going to make it 5 years in the league?
Then I firmly believe Breece could be a bonafide STAR in the league so long as he remains injury free.
Both are great RB with a little bit different set of skills but to me just seems like Hall knows how to bust off bigger plays or find the running lanes quicker than DM could. DM was really shifty and patient then would make a guys miss a tackle or run through a guy or 2 before he was down while Hall just seems to burst through a hole, make a move and he's gone. I do agree Hall probably had a better OL than DM did but if I had to bet my mortgage on who will be the better NFL back I'd probably put it on Hall.
I do think J Brock could open some eyes after Hall is gone and would not be surprised to see him get a boost in carries this year too. He's a nice change of pace RB that makes guys miss too and probably could be RB1 on some teams.
