Thank you ISU

I thought he might have been transferring a couple of weeks ago when he posted on twitter "Headed back to PA all my bois in case I don't cum back I love yall" Best of luck to ya James!

I guess by now anyone who cares knows that James has decided to leave ISU. And I do mean JAMES decided. First of all let me brag about the maturity he displayed in making this tough decision to leave a great school and the Big 12. Our family will miss the great people we met in Iowa, but friendships will be there after football is over. James is a competitor and wanted to play now so I guess he thought the best thing would be to transfer now to a small school. Tiffin University just brought in a new coach from New Mexico University to turn their program around, which has not been very sucessful lately. They do not give full scholarships but the coach went to the President and said James could be a program changer so the President authorized a full ride. We also met with the President, which is very unusual. No- Tiffin isn't ISU, which makes James' decision even more impressive. He could have stayed at ISU and bragged that he is in the D-1, Big 12 or go to a small school and play. They run the exact offense we ran in H.S. "Air Raid" so James should pick it up pretty quick. Anyway my point is that we are thankful to ISU for giving James the opportunity to be a part of a great program with great fans and coaches. We have no complaints about anyone. I apologize if I offended anyone by posting on here; especially Cydude16. I'm sorry-just a proud Dad. I would like to still follow ISU if that is okay. I wish the best to all the players and the fans. We love you all. So as much as it hurts, we must say goodbye. Hope to be watching ISU on New Year's Day. Good luck and God Bless. Tom Capello

Really happy for James! The opportunity to play is just something a competitor can't pass up. Thanks for allowing your son to come to ISU and best of luck at Tiffin.

First class post, Mr.C.

We appreciate the kind words and the fact that your son chose Iowa State to begin with. I hope he throws for 500 yards a game and enjoys every minute doing it.

All the best to James on his future endeavor. Thanks for being a Cyclone !
Appreciate the kind words, Mr. Capello - all the best to you and your family too.

Dissappointed to see James leave, still think he had the potential to start one day, glad he did it in a mature, classy way. Sorry for any grief you got on this board. Your posts were always classy and appreciated. Good luck to James at Tiffen.

TC,

I also hate to see James leave, but it should be clear that he obviously pushed the qb competition to a higher level. I totally understand the desire to play right away, and even moreso the great offer of a full ride. It sounds like he has a great situation with the powers at Tiffin, and people that he can learn from and that can point him in the right direction of his field of choice. To be 19 or 20, and have a realistic outlook on life should make you proud.

For what it is worth, I think your posts are great and well said. Open communication is a plus. I think you provided a nice touch of a proud dad, and a behind the scenes look at tough competition.

Congrats and Best Wishes! Please stop back often with updates.

Prepare to be chastised for going against Capello, even when its a respectful difference of opinion!:spinny:

Thanks for the head's up. Apparently I'm not as classy as the other Cyclone fans on this board. Talking about a full-ride that no other player receives and having a personal meet-and-greet with the persident? That just doesn't go over well with me.

Avoid the topic of recruiting services too.

Tom, we'll miss your family and James. Come back to CF some time to give us an update on how he lands.

Your posts in the previous thread on this subject were anything but respectful.

I shared my opinion in a respectable way and was ripped on by people who didn't share my opinion which is okay. But other posters attacked in not a respectable way, so how do you think I was going to respond?

I guess you missed that part right.

Having an opinion is a good thing but labeling a guy you most likely have never even met as to what kind of parent he is... well that is a bit of a stretch IMO and a good way to draw out the responses you got from other posters.

"So I'm an idiot for feeling rubbed the wrong way by the dad who was most likely "that guy" who yelled at his son and coaches during pee wee football? And lives vicariously through his son? Thats just... "

I think you are taking an awfully large leap in making a judgement like this about a guy you know literally nothing about.

It can go the other way as well, how do posters really know he is a stand up and classy guy? Just sayin'. He came across as a solid guy but some posts just rubbed me the wrong way. I just find the fonding over a poster disturbing. The infatuation that some posters have with family members that have posted here is just as weird to me as Tornadoman's love for DMac, and Rebecacy's love for Chizik. I legitimately do not see where any of these posts were Tom was more insightful then the next guy and that the praise he receives is worthy, that is my opinion. The fact that he is a parent has many posters starry eyed like a women when they read trash reality magazines.

Just my 2 cents. Bash away if you want.

I appreciated reading your posts the same as I appreciate the opinions of 90% of the posters on here. I wish James success where ever life takes him. I am sorry it will not be at ISU.

CyDude16:

Having known parents of players and having gone to games and tailgates with them, and having heard them discuss what their sons have told them and then seen how things pan out, I generally respect family members opinions. I was friends with the parents of players under McCarney, and gained a lot more appreciation as to what it means to play Big 12 football. Also, that assistant coaches sometimes tell the players to expect certain things, and then other decisions are made. It seems that though some past coaches expected truthful and dedication to them, they were not always truthful and dedicated to the players. Not meaning McCarney, but some of his assistants. So sometimes, even though a family member knows what was said to them or there son, it does not always turn out that way.

Same could be said about those saying how classy he is. None of us on this board truly know what kind of person he is.

I have no reason to think he isn't a good person, but like CyDude some of his posts rubbed me the wrong way.
