Having known parents of players and having gone to games and tailgates with them, and having heard them discuss what their sons have told them and then seen how things pan out, I generally respect family members opinions. I was friends with the parents of players under McCarney, and gained a lot more appreciation as to what it means to play Big 12 football. Also, that assistant coaches sometimes tell the players to expect certain things, and then other decisions are made. It seems that though some past coaches expected truthful and dedication to them, they were not always truthful and dedicated to the players. Not meaning McCarney, but some of his assistants. So sometimes, even though a family member knows what was said to them or there son, it does not always turn out that way.
Or thinks they know what was actually said. There's a huge caveat there. People interpret what they want out of what anyone says.
