Probably, but lying is something that is very easily avoidable. I have no room for people who lie.I think actually throwing stuff on the field is much worse than lying about it.
Accusations that were 100 times worse than accusing the student body of throwing non approved items onto the field. So K-State was fined by the league for making disparaging comments (and categorically false accusations) against a member institution following the Jerome Tang shenanigans??
We were legit when Johnny Majors and Earl Bruce were coaches. Definitely not favorites, but fans can dream. Was a weird flex as we were never going to the Orange Bowl.
It ended for certain with the end of the conference tie-in with the Orange Bowl in 1996. But it pretty well ended for Iowa State after Earle Bruce left.It died because people started to realize it's never going to happen. With Walden after the first quarter of the first game it was better to eat the oranges.
I think bad-mouthing the conference was a significant part of it.I think the Big XII needs to explain their position on the "inaccurate statement regarding a pocketknife." Maybe Leipold lied about it, but it sure seemed like there was a pocketknife somewhere based on what he said after the game.
I can understand the bad-mouthing part of the fine. But they went out of their way to bring the pocket-knife into the fine without getting into any specifics about why Leipold's statements were inaccurate. That is the part they need to address, imo.I think bad-mouthing the conference was a significant part of it.
In 1976, ISU was a season ending win @ Oklahoma State away from being Big 8 Co-Champs and the Orange Bowl rep. Unfortunately, ISU lost the game, finished 8-3 and didn't even Bowl that season.Oranges were tossed in old Clyde William's to. Was a weird flex as we were never going to the Orange Bowl. Also snowballs at least once that I recall.
They quit serving fruit at food service on Fridays hoping to discourage throwing it on the fieldThe tortillas don't bother me back in the 80s ISU threw oranges into the end zone after the 1st touchdown of the 1st game because "we were orange bowl bound"
It was a quirky thing to do. Not sure when it died out.

One time students threw bananas when they couldn’t find oranges. They quit serving fruit at food service on Fridays hoping to discourage throwing it on the field
What is the football staff doing bringing knives with them to a football game? Seems weird.![]()
