TCU MBB Coach

That's probably a good move for him. TCU has the potential to be a better job than LSU in a couple years.

Pump the brakes there...

TCU's last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 1987 and prior to that it was 1971. 2 NCAA Tourney appearances in the last 41 years? Ouch.

In that same span of time LSU has won 7 SEC regular season titles, been to 18 NCAA Tournaments, 7 Sweet 16's, 5 Elite 8's, and 3 Final Fours.

TCU is a trainwreck with no history. They have a long way to go to even be in the same category as LSU.

Man, Trent Johnson does not like to stay at schools long.

Nevada - 1999 - 2004 (79-74)
Stanford - 2004 - 2008 (45-27)
LSU - 2008 - 2012 (58-59)
TCU? 2012 - 2016....

LSU fans will celebrate him leaving. They were 2 years removed from a Final Four when Trent took over and look where the program is now... Not good.

Absolute head scratcher -- old TCU coach leaves to go to Ohio and new coach comes from LSU. Both appear to have taken a step backwards.

The Big XII is so tough. It would be really nice to have at least one doormat. Unfortunately, I don't think that is going to happen.

Go Cyclones!

TCU isn't looking good.

Ohio may not be a step down right now

Iowa State didn't have much to talk about in that manner when Orr was hired either.

No doormats since nebbie turned tail.

All great points, but you could have just said "Pistol Pete".

TCU also made it in '98. Your main point still stands, however.

TCU was 5 seed in '98, lost to FSU in first round, then Florida State lost to That Valpo Team.

Last tournament win for TCU was '87.

Wikipedia says the previous appearance was '68, not '71 (not that I would have known that). Beat K-State, then lost by 35 to Houston — the Elvin Hayes Houston.

Which is why I said potential. Both programs stink right now, doesn't matter what LSU did 40 years ago. With TCU moving to the Big XII, they are going to get better players and most likely upgrade their facilities.

I never said it will be better but it has the potential with them moving to the Big XII.

No matter the history of a program all it takes is one good coach to energize a program. I always had the perception that Trent Johnson was a good coach, but looking at those records I'm not so sure. He would definitely have an uphill battle at TCU.
