Well jers, to start with, I'm not using it as an insult or "name calling" here. I think it's pretty self evident that you absolutely love Fred Hoiberg and loved his time here. I do notice that you didn't exactly go out of your way to deny the accuracy of the term.
And guess what? I loved Fred's time here as well, up until his very last game, that is. I loved how he saved the program from the bottoming out of the McDermott era; I loved having College Gameday in Ames and having the crowd be so loud that it messed up their microphones. I cried tears of joy when we beat UNC to make it to the Sweet 16 back in '14 (2013 was a pretty tough year for me personally, so that wonderful basketball season was like a free therapy session). I even defended Fred when he took the Nebraska job last spring (btw, the hysterical overreaction to that with people calling him a "traitor" is peak stupidity here on CycloneFanatic.com).
The difference between you and I here is that when I read all of your comments and posts on here is that, when I read between the lines, you were never, ever going to give Prohm a chance here (and to be fair, I get the impression that if we had somehow pried Coach K away from Duke and he named Phil Jackson his top assistant that you would have been unhappy with it). You yourself have written that Prohm did something very early on to turn you against him. You've written that. You have also written that you couldn't feel as good about Prohm's victories in the NCAA tournament because of the "quality" of victories (since it's his fault that a Chris Beard-coached #12 seed played well enough to upset a 5th seed). You have written these things, and you have never, ever given Prohm a chance to succeed on his own merits. Please do not deny this. Fred Hoiberg did some great things during his time here. So has Steve Prohm, although it's undeniable that this season has gotten off to a disastrous start.
And you know what? You just may be right about Prohm. I hope not, but after what happened Tuesday night I am officially off the bandwagon, and he and the team are going to have to show me some good things to get back on it. Again, the difference between you and I is that I (and others) were willing to give him a chance that you never were. You judge him based off of who he replaced in addition to the basketball stuff. I judge him on his own merits and weaknesses when it comes to what happens on the court.
