Spring Practice??

Loved watching you play Austin, you were a class act and I made sure to shake your hand after storming the field senior day versus Mizzou on Mac's last game (great victory.) Wish you all the best down in Texas.

As for the Spring Practices, pretty much everything I've gotten to see was provided from Cyclones.com. I would tell you who I think is looking good, but I think you might have a little better visual analysis of who is making some nice progress especially the QB's and WR's. Seems like most people here like coach Paul Rhoads and I think he's put together a VERY good staff. The spread offense especially should be fun to watch this year with Tom Herman, I cannot wait. Hopefully the defense can get back to the fundamentals and become more sound. Last year was just tough to watch us try to stop a 3rd down conversion...

Like I said hope all is well Mr. Flynn, take it easy and hope to see you here on CF as frequently as life allows.

Austin,

I talked to you one night in Ames at Cy's after a tough loss. You were a class act. I hope to see you in Ames again soon!

Austin- Just wanted to add my congrats on your solid career, marriage, and family, and how awesome it is to see you on this board. Re: Coach Rhodes I would just add that he was valedictorian of his class at Ankeny, and his o-coordinator Herman is in some club for geniuses, so we've got some extra smart guys on the staff which can never hurt. You'd fit right in someday.

Hell, the offense looked good. I was only with AA one year but I could tell he would be a natural leader. He seems calm and the game seems to be slowin down for him even with the new offense. It's hard to get a read on the O-line and D-line. Not that my opinion is right by any means but I've always thought and said that the D-line wins ball games. When I played and when we won, we had leads, curve, moorehead, and yes I said berryman. Even earlier that that...leads, carstens, coleman. My senior year we only had curve and moorehead back and we struggled. Yes, you have to have a good QB and a better O-line but I measure a team by 1. D-line, 2. O-line. We had a pretty good receiving core and a Big 12 QB my senior and we struggled. If you can bring 4 and drop 7 you can stop people. If you can stop people and get great field position you can win a lot of ball games. Hopefully we have some depth and experience coming back.

Holy crap, Austin Flynn is on CycloneFanatic.

Loved watching you play. It's always a pleasure watching someone who played with as much heart as you did. Congratulations on the wife and little one upcoming.

Sounds like you're busy coaching, but since you're just over in Deer Park, if you get a free Saturday in the fall, shoot me a PM. I'd love to get together, watch the 'Clones, and buy you a beer.

Thanks again for the memories!

We need more players like Austin.

Can you imagine the kind of program ISU would have if that were the case? Not trying to be a suck up, but he is the epitome of class, dedication and sacrifice. Didn't care about personal glory. Didn't whine or cry or transfer because he couldn't play the position he wanted. He just wanted to help the team win.

Austin,

I am going up to watch practice tomorrow and I will post what I saw.

I think our offense is going to put up some good numbers this year

That is a great picture. Speaking of that game, how in the heck was that game even close? If I remember correctly we got a lucky penalty that basically let us back in the game.

Austin,

I echo the comments on your career here at Iowa State; you were (are) an all-time favorite and it was great to be able to see you play. I was also fun to play against you in the men's slowpitch league in Ames over the summers.

Thanks for what you did on and off the field and best of luck to you, your wife, and the future lil' clone.
