South Dakota Postgame

This is fair, but calling a guy working in the NFL a “certified clown” is…clownish.

As much as I loved those guys, I think Brahmer is ahead of Kolar, Burkle is ahead of Chase, and Moore beats out Soehner. It’s just emblematic of how the whole roster has evolved.

Also, instead of comparing our wideouts to Hutchinson’s body of work, maybe try conparing them to Xavier Game Two version? Like, just one? Say, Eskildsen?

And, at the very least, there’s a lot more there than just one guy.
Coaching is an old boys league and they take care of each other. I didn't call Manning anything, that was someone else, but we now seem to have a very diverse offense that is not afraid to throw it down field. Under Manning it was a lot of run it right at someone and then on 3rd and 7, we have to pass.
Is our offense perfect now, no, still would love to see us throw in a screen or two, fewer bunched WR screens out on the edge, but we look sharp and more importantly effective.

I wasn’t saying the guys in the WR room can end up better than X. I hope they do. But I’m taking 2021 X over what we have now. Brahmer has to stay on the field consistently for me to believe he’s better than Kolar.

Manning cost ISU countless games in 2021 and 2022 with his uber conservative, play football in a phone booth mentality. How many games did the defense ball out, only for Manning to let them down? Unless you’re related to ole Tom I don’t see why you’re so upset about me calling him a clown

Manning wasn’t great, but he was playing with the cards he was dealt with.

Among other tools, Mouser has two 10.5 100m guys on the field. And however reliable X was, he wasn’t fast. Speed opens things up.

Would love to see our 3rd down passing stats under manning. It was maddening, it seemed like we would be 5/6 passing on 3rd down with only one conversion.
He was the master of calling routes 2 yards short of the sticks. Also refused to go under center and sneak. Didn't mean to jump on the bash manning train...

That’s the issue- his interpretation of the cards he was dealt and ability to play those cards.

In terms of being an OC, Manning was okay at implementing what CMC thought he wanted and what they could envision the roster doing. He wasn’t a chef imo, he was just trying to get good at following a recipe

A value-adding OC helps/challenges a HC like Campbell to change and improve. To figure out what to run, and how to run it. Campbell is a much better HC than he is an offensive mind. I can’t say it’s only Mouser, but we’ve been better in that regard.

Brahmer is a better athlete than Manning’s tight ends, too. Burkle looks more like a Kolar analogue. He’s very sure handed and turning into Rocco’s safety valve.

I really like the balance of the offense so far this year. While we might be lacking a certified star (Brahmer?), I think we have a lot of future NFL skill guys and teams can’t focus their scheme to lockout one guy. Mouser and Rocco are very willing to spread it around which makes us harder to defend.

Getting separation from better defenses may be an issue, although Townsend has the ability and the size of the TEs will help

So far Mouser has done a great job of designing them open, and Rocco finding them

The defense was leaky as F in 2021 and got jumped on at Tech and WV.

I'll give you 2022 although that was quite a rebuild offensively and there was one personality that seemed to effect a lot of things.
