South Dakota forums

Non-ESPN talking heads have openly ripped apart how blatantly terrible that FPI is. It manipulated solely to push their SEC agenda or other blue bloods. It's not an actual metric.
I think SP+ (also ESPN owned) was manipulated after this last round of realignment as well. A lot of emphasis on conference affiliation over anything else.

Also just to correct your comment on the USD forum, nobody in the ISU facility is overlooking USD. This is not viewed as a trap game, but rather a really good FCS opponent
I’m not here to argue. Saturday around 6 pm one of us will be more correct. If I’m wrong I’ll buy you a beer. Deal?

IDK Johnson had some big-time throws on the run, in particular the quick strike score to cut the deficit back to 24-21.
It was a good thing for him his guy was so wide open and the defender tried to pick it off rather than conceding the reception and running to the spot to cut him off and make the tackle because it was underthrown and his receiver had to essentially stop and wait for the ball.

Pretty much every starting D1 QB "has some big time throws." What makes a QB great is consistency. Yes, Avery completed a high percentage of his passes, but so many of them were high, behind or low so the receiver had to make an extra effort to make the catch rather than having it in stride to make more of the completions into big plays. He's a head scratcher looking All American on one throw and then throwing the ball behind his target's feet on the next play, scrambling for a first down on the next play, and throwing the ball away to absolutely nobody while still in the pocket on the next. I don't think the problem is in his arms or his feet - it's between his ears. When things aren't going well he starts playing scared and sometimes panics. I thought he might grow out of it, but he is a junior now and he still looks scared and still thinking about the last play when things don't go well.

There’s a reason why NDSU and SDSU pretty much just dominate yearly. Very few other schools elsewhere can compete.
It's pretty much the Dakota schools and the Montana schools. It is cool that those states support their FCS programs to the level they do. You get these schools in the middle of absolute nowhere that are powerhouses and fanatical about their football (no offense Fargo and Missoula).

My question to you would be what makes you confident this will be a good game when last year, South Dakota struggled and lost by two scores to one of the worst teams in the Big 10? Wisconsin had a big game next week at home against Alabama so it was also a “trap game” for them.

This is exact vibe I get as well. The staff and team know they will have to play well to win. This isn't SEMO from 2022. Iowa State will get USD best shot.

To be fair, it was a 7 point game in the 4th quarter, so USD was very much in that game late.

Don’t be surprised if Manske is the first QB in as a sub. He is the one who warmed up with Rocco every series in the first game.
I think it may come down to the situation. I think they want manske to get reps so he gets a feel and they see live action from him. I don’t think they want him taking a huge amount of time though at this stage.

Edit: BTW, his younger brother looked solid Friday night. Algona has some athletes if they can keep getting more physical.

I found it interesting on the pod that Blum mentioned that the players had to stand every 30 minutes in the flight home. Assuming to help prevent jet leg, but would be curious for someone smarter than me to explain this concept
Probably circulation in the legs and muscle stiffness.

Ahh, old lakesbison. The guy who was so upset about the school changing its mascot, that he threatened a state senator, and had to have a "talking to" by the state police.

Also, if I recall correctly, he used to claim to have been a member of one of their sports teams, baseball maybe, and that fact featured consistently in proving the legitimacy of his arguments. Difficulty: He wasn't in any of the pictures that were taken of the teams during the time he supposedly played, he never logged a statistic, and nobody remembered him being there.

He was as much of a joke with his own fanbase as he was with opponents.

Sometimes I miss that guy... but then I remember that there's another roll of toilet paper in the cabinet under the sink.
Did that really happen???

USD kicks a few FGs and a sloppy TD in the 4th with our defensive subs in. Clones by 28 and saving the playbook.
