South Dakota forums

I just don’t see their DL being better than KSUs nor their QB or skill guys being better than KSUs. I know it’s a whole new game but talking up their guys after we just beat the projected best team in the Big 12 on a neutral field is quite the take.

The Dakotas (all 4 of them) just can't wrap their heads around the fact that the gulf between the 4 money leagues and the FCS has exploded over the last decade. It's still 2010 to them. It's almost sad.

I'm the biggest FCS guy on this board and I'm fully aware that FCS Football has sucked for the last decade and it's only going to get worse.

This is why I don't put much stock into the #4 FCS ranking. They lost both lines to the portal/LinkedIn as well as a bunch of skill players (Quaron Adams).
They are a team of transfers with brand new coaches in their first game. We've already played a game. This could be a route quick.

This. This isn't the FCS of 10-20 years ago. Any good FCS player will move up to FBS given the NIL situation.

Anyone want to guess how many times an FCS team has beaten a ranked FBS team over the last 8 years? ONE. 2021, Montana over Washington.

Of course nothing is a gimme but we'll be 3 score favorites for a reason.

ISU is going to be ranked around 18th in FBS for this game.

9 out of 10 “Yotes” on that board expect an easy road win which would put them around #7 in fbs and have a chance to win the College Football Playoff against Texas or Ohio State.

My favorite is the guy who doesn’t realize ISU has been better at football than Nebraska for almost a quarter century.
I predict ISU will be ranked 22nd by the AP and 21st by the Coaches.

Hint, the first regular season polls comes out after Week 1 so ISU will continue to wear the preseason poll (technically week 1) rankings until after this game.

That Dakota/Montana FCS world is really a unique crowd. They are the one area of the country that fully embraces FCS and has little to interest in the FBS.

They probably are still thinking we’re the same team that got curb stomped by NDSU a decade ago.

There’s a reason why NDSU and SDSU pretty much just dominate yearly. Very few other schools elsewhere can compete.

The Pierre kid does look like a player we’ll have to game plan for. Pretty damn explosive.

But I do think our run defense looked really stout last week. The only time K State broke through on us was more due to biting on QB options. I don’t think Bouman will be a big threat in that same regard lol.

It’s going to take several more years for our inferiority complex to lessen and gain more confidence.
We were conditioned for decades to not trust ourselves against anybody. Even early in the Campbell years we also blew a game to Drake.

I can normally brush off delusional homerism, but foreseeing the floor here for USD being an 11-point loss is certainly an optimistic take.

Spending nearly triple what anybody else does on football also helps greatly.

They broke the FCS financial model and then turn around and ***** about the FCS model being broken.

The portal has really hurt the talent level in the FCS. Before guys stayed and developed, now you get the Cam Ward’s and Jayden Higgins of the world transferring up.

Some of the fans in that thread are trashing Big 12 as no good but hyping their fbs transfers.

Players transfer from crap Big 12 because they don’t get playing time then are suddenly awesome?

And the guys who couldn't see the field transferring down. Like this running back from Texas. If he was any good at the FBS level, he'd still be there.
