Slow drivers, KEEP RIGHT!

One of the most annoying, disrespectful, stupid things I have seen lately, is on the slow circle onramps to highways people gunning it, cutting across and passing me as I merge on.

You litterally cannot go faster than 40 on these ramps, but people are hitting it and passing me, before I even have a chance to merge over. Really irritating. :realmad:

LET ME TRAINER MERGE

So true.

Problem is these lane blockers "think" they are helping by enforcing the posted speed limit. I.e. since their speedometer says 65 and limit is 65 that person behind me has no right to get by.

What idiot lane blocker doesn't realize is that their speedometer is NOT calibrated regularily unlike law enforcement vehicles. So even though they think they are doing 65 mine may read 60.

65/69 between Indianola and Des Moines is absolutely the worst place in the state for this. The only explanations that I can think of for this:

1. They are stupid and do not understand the law

2. They are so self-involved that they don't realize anyone is waiting behind them

3. They are passive-aggressive, and the only way they can feel important in the world is if they impede someone else's life in whatever way they can.

I'll get over, but if you are tailgating me I'm going to slow down to **** you off.

I'm pretty patient overall, and don't tailgate, but if I'm following someone for over 30 seconds with no car in the right lane, I'm passing on the right. I don't drive all that fast, but I end up passing 2 or 3 cars on the right on almost every trip between Des Moines and Indianola.

Of course, their next favorite trick is to speed up by 20 mph when you try to get around them (or speed up until they're next to another car, and then slow back down). It's just silly....if you like driving in the left lane, just scoot over until people are by you, and then get back over. Pretty simple. I've followed cars for 3 or 4 miles in heavy traffic, with 8 or 10 cars waiting behind, just to make a simple pass that would have taken about 10 seconds.

More than that, it is the responsibility of drivers to assume the prevailing speed of traffic. In some states, that's the law. (It was in MO when I was growing up anyway).

One of the problems is that these jackwagons don't see the havoc they wreak, namely the accordian reactions they cause behind them, and accidents inside them.

Some of them hang in the left lane because they aren't good enough drivers to deal with all the lane changes that typically come with being in the right hand lane, but they claim that they have a right/responsibility to be in the left rather than admit their "fear" of the right.

Yes this irritates me as well, but I'm talking about when I'm going 75 in a 70 to get around a truck because you want to go 80 MPH and you are riding my ***. It's just going to make me slow down, because I hate people who tailgate me. And it's dangerous.

The people I hate are the ones that have an empty lane to their right and don't take it at all for some stupid reason.

Can we add to the list of gripes, people who refuse to change the cruise control, ie slowly creeping past someone while passing. Cars start stacking up behind them.
If I see a car that is waiting on me to pass someone I will kick it up a few mph, just so it doesn't get to blocked up.

You've never been on I-380 between CR and IC, I take it. I routinely have to pass people on the right and half the time, when I do, the idiot speeds up.

Just make it easy and move over...I don't see what the huge problem is!!

I got pulled over in Missouri one time for driving more than 5 miles in the left lane when not a single soul was in both lanes.. The cop gave me a warning, but it's a law in Missouri. I'm a fast driver and used to being in the left lane when I drive up and down 35, so sometimes I forget.

I once got pulled over for not passing in the left lane. I slowed down my pass because i saw the cop. It was st patty's'so i think he just wanted to see if he could smell booze on me.

Don't tailgate me in City traffic. You will not get where you want to get in the time you expect.

Most of these guys are teenagers thinking that they actually make progress by getting to a stoplight sooner than others.

Wow, didn't know that. I almost always drive in the left lane. I always drive about 5-7mph over the speed limit and the left lane seems to be smoother on most highways.

The left lane is for passing...even if the road is empty. 75% of the drivers in this country shouldn't have a license.

If I'm slow on the interstate, I'm sure to be in the left lane or get over for people as soon as I can, but in high traffic city situations, I avoid the outer two lanes and the merging.

My pet peeve is people passing over a solid white line around me as I make my exit on an off ramp- even with my signal on. It doesnt matter what color a solid line is, you can't cross it.

Yep. That is a good law. I have to remember it when I go down there too, but I believe they have it posted on road signs every so often. If the state of Iowa is looking for a revenue stream, this would be my recommendation.
