Shaggy is under the bus.....

I would think it would be easier to kick in another stadium for Shaggy at this point.

I heard this on KXNO so take it with a grain of salt. Shaggy is apparently lights out in practice. Like kicking at the next level...that kind of lights out. But he just can't get it done on the field.

He ought to get hypnotized so he can block out all the external distractions. Focus Shaggy, focus!!

He's money from 5 yards on in. We just have to fill in that small gap in coverage. Let's call Shaggy our short-yardage specialist.

He technically missed that PAT this year where he kicked the fumbled snap.

Isn't he like 100% for PAT's for his career?

Is he? It seems like he isnt but I cant recall a specific instance.

The guy is not good and thus our kicking game is not good. Our red zone offense is not good and we can't score touchdowns. I don't see these two issues as different problems. Both are killing us and both need a lot of improvement. I have to give the coaches enough credit that if there were a better option than Shaggy, we would have seen it. The other problem is a lot more difficult than one person.

I don't think that counted..... he never actually kicked it. He pulled up from the kicking stroke and never made contact.

Curious. Does Shaggy hold the school record for most field goals attempted, made, missed, and possibly career points?

Anyone remember 1976 when Earle Bruce advertised in the Daily for a kicker to kickoff because our kickoff kicker couldn't get it to the 10 (and that's when kickoffs were from the 40).

Our kicking game is just another area Mac left us weak. Obviously we need a kicker, get a great kicker in here and give him what he wants. I'm tired of going for it on 4th down between the 20-30 markers. We should of been up by at least 13 at half last week.

I've said it before, you can blame Mac for the kicking if you want to but Chizik brought in ZERO kickers in his recruiting class so he accepted what we already had. He could have adressed the problem if he wanted to but didn't. Let's not turn this into another "this is the mess Mac left us" thread ok? Ultimately our woes on offense are greater than our kicking problem when you look at the big picture.

Well big picture I think that a kicker is much more important. Yes, if we could get it done in the red zone then it wouldn't be a worry, but we can't. So you have two issues - a kicker is one person, while the entire offense is at least 10+. So relative to the change that one person can make, and therefore which requires more attention, doesn't it make sense to worry about the kicker a lot? Yes, both need to get fixed. But the solution is easier for one than the other.

Story on another chatsite saying we were going to have a guy in (JC) but he had some greencard problems. Sounds like he may join us for next year. If he has greencard problems that means hes a ferner and all the best kickers are ferners.

The fact is, football teams do not score a TD everytime they get inside the redzone. Not even close. That's why field goal kickers have a job. If it were so easy to score once we got inside the 30, why do any of the 110-something Division 1 teams have a kicker.

Because someone's gotta kick the extra point after scoring the easy TD inside the redzone
