Shaggy is under the bus.....

Anyone remember 1976 when Earle Bruce advertised in the Daily for a kicker to kickoff because our kickoff kicker couldn't get it to the 10 (and that's when kickoffs were from the 40).

I remember Walden advertising for long-snappers in the Daily in the early 90's.

I heard this on KXNO so take it with a grain of salt. Shaggy is apparently lights out in practice. Like kicking at the next level...that kind of lights out. But he just can't get it done on the field.

I have no doubt he can be lights out when there is no pressure on him and all he has to do is swing his leg. That doesn't help us. The main attribute about a kicker is to be able to still kick those long FG's when the pressure/game is on your shoulders.

If I remember correctly, it was a 25 yard field goal right in the middle of the field.

Incorrect.

The previous coach, while playing for the fg the whole time, placed the ball on the right hashmark. In fact he ran Stevie right on the last play.

By doing so, he was able to make the angle extreme for a walk on freshman facing the biggest kick he ever attempted.

I've said it before, you can blame Mac for the kicking if you want to but Chizik brought in ZERO kickers in his recruiting class so he accepted what we already had. He could have adressed the problem if he wanted to but didn't. Let's not turn this into another "this is the mess Mac left us" thread ok? Ultimately our woes on offense are greater than our kicking problem when you look at the big picture.

Ummmmm................. WRONG AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TWO months vs TWELVE YEARS answers your question. Plus Gene had to recruit a line or two also. No scholly's left for luxuries. Think please.

This happened all the time and bugged the hell out of me. At Missouri in 05, we threw 2 incomplete passes in OT and then a run to the left sideline, forcing Shaggy to kick a 42-yarder from the left hash.

At KU in 05, same thing. Then, when KU took over, they ran all their plays to the middle of the field, so their game-winning FG was a straight shot.

When Chizik set up for the last-second FG against Iowa this year, they ran their plays to the middle of the field, so that the FG was only a PAT. I was so elated I almost cried.

Nevertheless, a D-IA kicker ought to be able to make a 40-yard field goal from either hash mark.

That is all Darts knows how to do. He turns every thread into I hate Mac and you love him. You could be talking about Anna Kornikova. He would bring up the fact that she is from Florida via Russia. Mac now lives in Florida. You love Mac and Hate Chizik. That is how Darts180 rolls.

Not pat him on the back, I do think he needs to get on him about his performance ....one on one. But to air it out in the media does nothing to help the situation but make it worse.

The biggest concern for me is when Chizik asked a member of the press during a press conference if he could kick....

What do you want Chizik to say? Everythings great in the kicking game? Shaggy is 3 of 8 other than the Iowa game plus 1 block. Do you think 3 for 9 is satisfactory?

IMO up to this point he has been very respectful of Shaggy and his poor performance this year. If he's going to hold every other starter to a high level and openly discuss players need to perform, why wouldn't he do the same for Shaggy? Shaggy's scholarship is a full ride, not a reduced scholarship that exempts him from criticism.

It seems to me that Chizek was just trying to make light of the question- basically emphasizing that nobody is pushing Shaggy.
