***Scottie Scheffler Arrest Thread***

Oh damn, would you look at that. The COP HATERS! crowd actually were the common sense people looking at this after all. Crazy how that happens.

Also, the cop telling him to always stop and always get out when someone you didn't identify tells you to, might've been the single-worst piece of advice I've ever heard from a police officer. You absolutely 100% do not do that.

What most interesting to me is by the time that police report is written I imagine he knows that he's arrested the #1 golfer in the world, and someone with infinite resources to fight the legal charges. And despite this, he authored a police report riddled with lies. It just totally alarming the extent to which they will lie. They'll lie in reports, they'll lie in Court, and unless you have video evidence supporting your innocence, it becomes really hard to overcome their lying.

That's the best part -- by just dropping the charges and agreeing not to sue back, the PD made sure they don't have to internally investigate or punish any of this. It just washes away quietly forever...until the next guy it happens to, who won't be a celeb or pro athlete with this kind of visibility and legal assistance.

But Scheffler is basically a cop killer, so they need to protect their own out there

100% YOU SHOULD NEVER JUST STOP YOUR CAR WHEN ASKED TO..

An officer must identify themselves. What if it was a junkie looking to rob or harm scottie?

Again, what a huge blessing for the taxpayers of Louisville that Scottie is so kind hearted to not sue the department and that officer for 8 figures

This whole situation is a shining example of how to make a giant problem out of nothing. Surely the police have better and more important things to do than deal with stuff like this, right?

All they had to do was checks notes just not arrest him and charge with a violent felony, then apparently falsify a whole bunch of the events around it all...

This is the dumbest part about cops, once they get in to something, they keep going.

Person not committing any crimes: “Why are you arresting me?”

Cops: “Because you’re under arrest”

Lol! OK, I think some are going a little too far in defense of Scottie here. In that situation, where you are driving around traffic off the road in the area of an accident with security and emergency personally all around, if someone yells stop you should definitely stop and find out why someone is saying that. He's not driving on a secluded road in a dangerous part of town at night. Let's use some common sense here. Not saying I think Scottie should gave been charged with anything and the cop definitely was in the wrong, but he should have stopped. Scottie even said he thought it was a security guard who didn't know he had been told by a cop to do go around and he was in a hurry to get to his tee time so he kept going.

All he did was basically complete his turn

If you say so. I don't know how far he went after someone yelled stop, but he admitted in that video he kept going afterwards because he was impatient and in a hurry. Mainly I'm responding to the people in this thread saying you should never stop just because someone yells at you to stop under any circumstance. That's kind of a ridiculous notion. There are times you should definitely stop if you hear someone yell that, this being one of those times.
