Rhoads Staff

I loved CPR and all the work he put into trying to make Isu a winner but that airport excuse and the cost was complete bs and many in here defender it hook, line, and sinker. Clearly the cost for recruits to fly here isn't an issue as evidenced already by new staff and kids they have gotten to visit.

I'm actually surprised by that. Not that they'd consider him, but that he'd want it. You'd think he'd take some time off and then get back in as a DC, a position where he could jump into a reasonably high profile job next year.
What coach, once you've been a head coach, would choose to be a coordinator/asst. coach again? I know I'd rather be a head coach somewhere, regardless of level.

Well it's very common to prefer to stay at a higher level, especially if you were a D1 HC.

It happens every year. Hell, look at Muschamp, Kiffin, Chizik, etc... Lots of guys get promoted to high and take a step back to coordinator in order to find success again. Some eventually move back to HC. Some don't.

I thought the issue with cost was that he wanted to be able to pay for the family of recruits to come with on official visits. I think that remains a legit thing that could boost our recruiting given how much influence parents have with where recruits pick.

Yeah, that was his main complaint. The airport plays into that though. Parents can fly into some of the major airports pretty cheap, but not Des Moines. Or if they are Texas recruits, they could drive.

It isn't the main reason why Rhoads had trouble recruiting, but it was a valid issue to bring up.

Hopefully they don't have a hissy fit when they hear Smoke on the Water or consider the entrance song to be incredibly important.
