Wonder why release says says South endzone video board is similar to North endzone board. When it is actually nearly twice the size:
150'x36 verses 79.5'x36'.
Twice the size of the current board will be massive!

I think the video portion of the board is only 80'. The entire structure is closer to 150'.

I

I was hoping for less seats and a more impressive enclosed masonry/glass building structure visible from both inside and from the south. This drawing shows the south entrance to be mostly a concrete concourse

Less seats makes financial sense.

As of airier this year it was more than just a rumor. It was coming from a pretty good source if I remember correctly

Now of course since then they may have changed the plans and maybe they are still in the plans or not, but as of that point someone posted here that they heard that either bridges or tunnels were being planned (as in more than one, possibly 3).

The source was good and the poster was credible.

Are you talking about me because I worked there? The tunnel was going through feasibility studies because of flooding. Bridge was more likely.

I don't work for the university architect's anymore. But this plan was up there. Though with less glass

Nope, I was not referencing you, someone completely different.

Here was the most recent reference to the tunnel. It came from Cyked15:

"Saw some figures for what our SEZ amounts to as far as allocation of funds, $40,000,000 on Stadium, $7,500,000 on Gardens, Practice Field and Entry, and $12,500,000 on East side parking, entry, tunnel and rec fields."

It was buried in the OU expansion thread.

Where did this tunnel/bridge stuff come from? Is that an AD statement?

I always thought that University (Elwood if you an old timer like me) is meant to act as a bit of a levy from Squaw creek - so a tunnel would be tough. And a bridge even more so.

Im pretty sure University/Elwood does not act as a levy. There was some discussion after 2010 to make it act as a levy, but I don't think its original intention was to do so (and if it was, it has failed a few times). None the less, if it was, you could easily add flood gates to the tunnel.

No - I don't mean to say that it was designed as such (obviously - it fails at that job too often), but rather behaves as much.

For 6 games a year - I don't think either option is really all that viable a project. If there were to spend any sort of money on that front, I'd rather it be spent to actually "build up" University (and I suppose Lincoln way too) to better protect Hilton and Jacobson.

Where would this be? S4th and university? S 16th? Wasted money IMO.

Anyone else remember when JTS looked like this? I think my car is out there in the lot.

BTW - That was game day Walden's last year.

Good god, those bleachers have always been faded since the dawn of time.

A tunnel under university at S16th is needed if nothing else as a safety improvement. All the people crossing university is always a big conflict with traffic, and one of these days someone is going to get killed running across that street after a game. And if nothing else it could be used by bikers\pedestrians year round connecting trails on S16th to the path that runs along University (you'll see a tunnel like this under every major arterial in WDM on the EP true\jordan creek trail)

That's a good point. I didn't consider that.

The bleachers have definitely faded some, but even if those pictures you see so little of the surface area of the bleachers that of course they will look more faded. The seats with the backrests look ten times better, but mostly because of backrest you can see the color better.

If you look closely enough, you can see the one or two students entering for free at halftime. Those were dark days.

It's hard to believe the transformation the stadium will have taken by the time the SEZ gets finished. The pics look great. Where do the national championship banners get hung, though?

We'd have a massive improvement to the stadium look by putting in new less faded bleachers with the backs on them for the whole stadium. But that'd probably be pricey.

I totally agree. Adding backs to all the seats would make it look a lot better.
