Kentucky has made Vaughn a 'priority' now as the shooting guard they need. Vaughn has made it clear he plans on one-and-done, and Calipari is the king of kings for that gig. Many rumors that Kentucky is his leader.

Why? Does Vaughn want to be one-and-done in the NIT?

Somehow I've caught myself actually posting about this...what am I doing? Every bb guru out there has UNC, UK, or Minn getting him...not even mentioning us anymore, really. Which is really what I believe, too. Don't think we'll have to worry about if there is 'room' for him or not.

The only room for optimisim is we are still considered "warm" on 247's site and were considered by some scouting services as the darkhorse to land him. I do however agree with you which is why I have said before that their is at best a slight chance to land him. Maybe if ISU had a breakout year but who knows.

If you're a top 10 player nationally it shouldn't matter where you go. Look at Anthony Bennett and Nerlens Noel

I think it's bush league that we can be recruiting a guy hard for so long and then Calicrappy can come in for a month and be the favorite.

Is there any links out there that says anyone is his favorite?

Even Minnesota fans think he might be swayed by UK. The word is, they are going to be pushing hard for him and Vaughn has expressed that he would like to play with another recruit that is pretty much a UK lock.

Kentucky is always hard to beat for a recruit but teams do it. Especially teams that have built a relationship with a player.
If Baylor can pull in top 25 players then there is no reason ISU cant start to do that as well.

Didn't know that, thanks for the info. Who is the other recruit he wants to play with?

That's not funny. Kids all over this country grow up just dreaming of the day they play a tournament game at Robert Morris.

Let's not go over board here. They won it all and defeated us by double digits the previous year. With the guys have coming in I would bet that they will resemble the NC team more than last year's squad.

I could have coached that team to a NC. Color me unimpressed when a team full of one-and-dones wins a NC. Recent teams like Michigan and Butler have to do it the hard way. I can appreciate that.

I'm pretty sure UK fans, players, coaches and recruits don't care if Stew-o is impressed. The point in sports is usually winning and stacking the odds in your favor with the best players possible.

My point is let's not act like UK is a perennial NIT team.

My point is that I can have my own opinion. UK is irrelevant to me.

I don't know why everyone thinks we don't have a shot with Vaughn... is it just because of the blue chip schools that are showing up? If so that is dumb.

Every interview he has ever done he's never ever even hinted he is leaning one way or another. Literally in the last interview I saw he rattled off about 10 different schools he was debating between (including Iowa State) and said he was nowhere near a decision. He had thought about narrowing his list down to 9 or 10 schools at some point in the future.

So all your information is based on is some analysts on some bias sports networks. Let's be real here, ESPN has a bias that they emphasize in sports about as much as this website has a bias towards the Cyclones.

Yankees, Lakers, Heat, Packers, Cowboys, Blackhawks... all of their "big market teams" in the pros
SEC in college anything (hence the kentucky lean on everything basketball)

Rivals and 247 have their own bias as well... Only person who knows what Vaughn is going to do is himself (and possibly his parents) and he doesn't even know. He just barely decided where he was going to High school next year, let alone where he will be going to college a year from now. Until he finishes the n in his last name on that dotted line next april (I doubt he signs during the early period, he likes being recruited) I will not say he's a lost cause.

This times a billion. Vaughn loves some attention. And i'm cool with that. If he signs with the ISU, he can bring as much positive attention to our program as he wants!
